Range day - Accuflex Evo Lite, Nickent Hybrid, bent irons

It warmed to 55° on the other side of the mountains here so I split during lunch and drove about 1/2 hour to the range. The range is not the best, it is all uphill so I don't have any idea about distances, just ball flight. Here is what is new and here are my findings.

Accuflex Evolution Lite - 44.25", stiff, Titleist 905R 10.5° weighted to a D2 with two strips of lead tape.

The Evo Lite is a great shaft. I was too quick with it at first, and even though I hit the ball well, it probably had a 10-15 yd fade/slice on the end of each shot. I decided to allow one more millisecond of a pause at the top of the backswing and then just cleared everything through. This produced an awesome ball flight that had a slow rise but landed softly (which is what I am after) with about a 5-10 yd fade. It was my first time at the range but a few times I hit that pause and then just ripped my body through, same ballflight. The shaft seem to respond to anything, AS LONG AS I ALLOWED THE PAUSE. I have never had a ballflight off a driver like this in my life. So kudos to Rock and thanks for the shaft!

Nickent 3DX DC 23° Hybrid - I purchased this club coupled with an 85g Aldila NVS Stiff-flex Hybrid shaft. This is a great, great combo. I teed it (very low) a few times at first and probably swung too much like a fairway wood because although the ball left on the path of a frozen rope, it did not land too softly. I adjusted my swing-thought to swing it like an 8 iron and hit a few off the deck. This club really shined. When I put an iron-type swing on it it felt incredible. It did all of the work. I read in GD Hot List that this club felt a little "mushy". I would just describe it as the same feeling as my SQ 5-wood. It seems as though the ball sits on the face for a second and then just springs off. The Aldila NVS shaft really throws the ball out there. Again, great combo. Kudos to WBL for the advice on the Nickent!

Mizuno MP-60 irons - I was finally fit for lie on my Mizzys and was told I could be between 0.5° and 1.0° upright. I had them bent a full degree due to the fact that I am working on not having such a flat swing (thanks to posting my swing vid here!). I cannot tell you all, at least those who do not already know, how important it is to have your irons fit to your swing. My ball contact was just that much more pure. I only swung my 8 iron the whole time. I had to learn to aim a little differently than I did before the bending, but I was able to hit slight fades with more confidence. I was able to open my club face a little more to avoid hitting it left and this produced a ballflight that landed much more softly than before. Again, if you have not already, get fitted fellow STers, you will not regret it. It eliminates the worthless thought of "Is it me or are my clubs a little off."

I play in southern Utah next week, so I will be able to provide distances, thanks to all for the advice.
