| He shot 67 at Firethorne country club to tie for second. Gainey, Michael Putnam, Robert Dimwiddie and Todd Dempsey qualified. It was a pretty decent field including Lee Janzen, Bubba Dickerson, Paul Gow, DA Points and Grant Waite. Janzen shot 75.
