I absolutely believe Hogan is the master of golf fundamentals. I now read 5 fundamentals at the beginning of each year to get my swing in check and practice the fundamentals at home religiously when I am having problems and even when I am not. Although outside of the grip it is absolutely the last thing I want to think about on the course and the second it slips into my mind usually marks the beginning of a bad round.

I just read Bob Rottella's - "Golf is not a game of perfect" this year, and it will likely become the new cornerstone for my thought process on the course. Namely the bit about finding the smallest target. I have always done this on the greens and short game, which has always been the best part of my game. What amazes me is that it never really crossed my mind on anything other than short game. My mind has likely been too cluttered with the mechanical and technical part of the golf swing. I thought I would have a hard time getting over this, but have not. It has made my game very peaceful and I have come to blame most bad shots with not focusing enough on the "Smallest target" and reverting back to the technical side. I think I am too good of a "feel" player to not make it the foundation for my course play. Sounds like a great instructor.

I really like the tip mentioned above and think it may help as it is one of my major flaws. Even practiced it a bit today, although I will simply try to rid my mind of this once I step on the first tee tomorrow morning.

edit 1 - Much more peaceful game when the height of your swing thought is "Grip it, and rip it"
