The second one must have been put on with monkey snot and it was obvious it was going to be a pain. Thankfully I remembered I bought a new heat gun a few weeks ago so it was a good chance to try it out. I cut a slit lengthwise down the tape and hit it for about 30 seconds with the heat gun on low heat. Voila! The tape peeled off in one giant piece. A little cleanup with Goo Gone and the shaft was good to go.

I know one thing for sure, if I had a shop and did a bazillion grips there is no way I'd use anything but air.
Not to threadjack, but what type of heat gun did you buy? I have been looking for one over the last week or so, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Also, if your going to use the air compressor make sure you PAY ATTENTION. I was taking a grip off and got distracted, I think my wife yelled to me. Next thing I know, POW!!!, the damn grip popped and my ears were ringing LOL.
