The purpose behind it is to get fitted with the opti fit system or by using demos and then buying the head and shaft that is right for you in certain conditions. They are promoting it in a way that if you show up at the golf course on a windy day you put your lower lofted head on the shaft. Also, as ez said, it is actually cheaper than the upgrades to those individual shafts, or having something pulled and a new one put in.

My callaway rep was in the store last night and was explaining the way it will work and the precautions they have taken in regards to warranties and "novice golfers" putting together these clubs. There will be a notch in the club head with a matching notch in the shaft so there will be only 1 way for the shaft to fit the head. This will decrease the chances of something going wrong.

IMO, the callaway i-mix is going to do much better than the Taylor CGB Limited. Which packages a head and 3 shafts that you cant even pick from. It is planned to retail at $1299 CAD.
