Kentucy Mini Reviews

Just got back from Kentucky and have formed some opinions on some of my new "toys"... The Kentucky Dam Village course was soggy and the ball plugged on fairway shots leaving you to wipe the gobs of dirt off them. It was also very cold (low 50º's) but no rain. This also was the first time sssmokin and I swung a club on a golf course in four months so there was rust in our swings. Given that....

Ping G5 with BB Solutions
Hit this good last summer. Hit it bad on the trip (sprayed it all over). Too long for now so it's going to go in hibernation until I get my swing better. Or else will have an inch lopped off. (Shaft still feels like butter though)

Adams Insight BUL driver
Didn't hit this well at first but crushed one with it the last day. Had to carry 260 and it was COLD. Got me over the corner on a dogleg left. Promising.

SQ Sumo2 driver
I bought this on a whim right before we left. Didn't hit it until the second day on the first hole. Absolutely stunning results. I could not hit this driver badly. Straight down the middle and LONG. Those who say it's straight but shorter are full of bulls**t. Average carry was 250. I was "plugging" the ball 250-259 consistently. As R35 would say, this is "point and shoot". I honestly have never hit a driver this good before in my life and I would bet it's every bit as good as the FTi everyone is raving about in here. The shaft (that LyleG said was crap) even felt good. It's my gamer until I get my swing better. I don't remember any fairways I missed with this. Not just "in" the fairway but "splitting" the fairway. Between bunkers or whatever. If I lined up the shot right it was there. I could really unload with this and still have it go straight. Really has my confidence high this spring.

Srixon ZurS ball
Picked up a sleeve of these to try. Every bit as good as my "former" favorite ProV1x but cheaper. I'm sold on these.

4-Magic Moves lesson package
Per my previous review I picked out what I felt would work and it did just that. I've got my 2006 distance back and I am looking forward to this summer with the increased "lag" in my swing.

Maltby KE4 3-wood
Had zaphod put a BB Solutions stiff in this and as LyleG (I believe) says, it's the best 3-wood I've ever hit. It is long and easy to hit straight.

The irons need more work but after "adjusting" to the dormant Bermuda grass fairways (nothing can describe this stuff until you run an iron through it) we started hitting them better. Wait! How about like hitting into steel wool? Our short games were right on and we scored out of our minds for the being off the course so long....
