Probably because when my wife and I get done with a round of golf, we go have a few beers, eat some ribs and wings, and watch a hockey or football game on the tube.
You would likely know what you were missing if you didn't have to leave your friends in the bar to go home and do yard work so you can get done in time to go watch Steel Magnolias, Bridget Jones Diary or God knows what kind of chick flick that sends you both home in tears. While we stay and help close down the bar.
Go ahead, keep thinking you got it lucky
edit 1 - By the way, just to dispell the rumor, it is much easier to ho a new club when the other realizes the value to a good driver or SW, and knows sometimes a club just sucks, because it sucks and a similar club with a different name is better just because it is not the one that does "just suck". Much easier to convince the other half you need a new club when they have to spend 5 minutes going to look for a ball in the woods. Knowing that 5 minutes could be better spent drinking another beer or putting a dent in that pile of ribs. |
100% correct.
Something else I've noticed. When my wife and I play 18 together, then work around the house, go out to eat, and come home she's normally of the mindset "It's so nice to have a husband who'll spend a whole day with me." Makes my nights much better than the attitude of "You spent the day out playing golf/drinking with the boys while I was home working in the yard/doing laundry/whatever."
Think about it, boys....
