I know my home course very well and it's a pretty simple track, but I'd love to have one of these things for when I go home to NS on vacation. The issue is my courses are not listed in the database. I don't want to buy this thing and then have them not map them. Ssmokin, are you able to make a query for a guy
Gotta be honest Vt, if it is mainly for travel or courses you do not play alot, I would probably go with the range finder. You don't have to plan ahead and can do it spur of the moment not needing to know what course you intend to play. Don't have to worry about the accuracy of someone else plotting or mapping the course.

If it is mainly for a home course, or a course you have some familiarity with, I would go with the GPS, you can confirm the points and know from there on out, plus you do have a pretty good idea on the accuracy just at first glance. Download the course you normally play, then no cost after that point. Just my .02 cents, as when I travel I use both but usually find myself falling back to the range finder. When at home, I never pull the range finder from my bag except for practicing short game.

Although if you do decide on the GPS, be aware that many allow you to plot your own, and the main reason I went with the iGolf. The others had none of the courses in my area. It was the only one at the time that had that option. That and it had he option to save the file to the PC, So I downloaded the 50 local course to my pc and never have to pay membership fees again. Two options I would first look for and require on any GPS
