Positive changes

So I just visited the range, like I do every Friday during lunch. Took my first basket, and went through my routine, starting with my 7i and working up then down from there. Hit a couple of shots with the big dog. Playing it a reject like I normally do. Then I made a little wiggle with my grip just to get my top hand more over the top, whilst moving my left hand further over the club.

This little change made me so uncomfortable that I switched and changed until I ended up with an overlapping grip rather than my normal interlock. This was the only way in which I could get comfortable. So I took a good stance, took my routine, and absolutely smoked that thing straight as a bullet.

So I'm thinking "fluke, surely". I did it all again, same result. And again, and again. So then I take my wedge out, and try with that. 10 yards further than normal with a 2 yard draw. So then I move onto the 8, exactly the same. And the 9. And the 6. You get the picture.

So all I've done is switched to a more comfortable overlap grip and it's made a complete difference. I used to have a slice and a block with the driver depending on how hard I tried to kill it. Now it's dead straight.

Obviously that wont work for everyone, but try it next time you're at the range. Anyway, I have Presidents day at the club tomorrow so I will post the results up here tomorrow night when I know whether it was indeed a fluke, or whether it's a groundbreaking discovery!
