The difference in golf balls comes in two areas - spin off of the driver and spin off of the wedges.

I play the taylormade Burner TP because it caries forever, is soft enough that a full wedge can stop it cold on the green, and with the new vokey spin milled wedge I was ripping the cover off of the more expensive, thinner cover, golf balls.

In the end it all depends on where you save your strokes, and how you do so. If you play a lot of spin watch out for the more expensive top of the line balls you can actually spin the covers right off of them. If you hit almost no spin I would recommend trying something with a thinner urethane cover.
