| The Ford V6 in my 1998 Mazda pickup is still going strong after 165K. No problems other than the usual replaceables - O2 sensors, plugs, belts, etc. Doesn't burn a pint every 5K miles. No leaks.
Transmission and rear diff went out at 85K, but I'm not convinced it wasn't due to an unfixed alignment issue after a wreck I had. Edmunds does say that the 98's and earlier had tranny problems, but have gotten a lot better since.
Still and all, I'm probably going to buy an Xterra next...
