Austin is about 1 1/2 (by car) north of San Antonio and last year was ranked the
#1 city for golf in the U.S. by
Golf Magazine. (San Antonio was #13.
Dallas/Ft. Worth [4 1/2 hours north of San Antonio was #4.) In Austin, Barton Creek Resort is the premier destination in the area, but I don't know if you have to be a guest of the resort to play there.
