Re: Yoga for the hefty fellow?

I'm not going to give my ususal smart-assed answer to this question because doing yoga has become a criticial part of my overall fitness program. My wife and I have been doing P90X (you've seen it's infomercial if you've ever spent any time on Golf Channel) for a year and a half now and one day is yoga. The entire yoga routine takes about an hour and a half. I can honestly say there is a big difference in "weight training" strong and "yoga" strong. Yoga looks lightweight and "sissified" but neither of us could get very far at first. You will work muscles that you never thought existed. I think it helps golfing tremendously in that it makes you become stronger, more flexible, and balanced at the same time.

The overall program of P90X has caused me to become more fit at 47 than I have ever been in my entire life. I weigh 170 pounds and average 265 off the tee in real, not internet, yards. I'll toss one out there 290/300 every once in awhile and just yesterday hit a 4 wood 260. I am never "tired" feeling anymore. (I am not trying to sell anyone on P90X but it is a great exercise program.)

So, the bottom line is yes yoga can help you. Who cares if you are a "hefty" fellow? Over time you'll become a more flexible and fit hefty fellow and a better golfer as a result. I guarantee that you'll feel better too.
