It is true. I play with a kid who's on a Div1 scholarship time to time. Seems like when I play with him and afterwords I "expect" to hit good shots and do. I actually execute the shots I'm capable of. Can't really explain it, just do it.
That being said, I shot a friggen 88 yesterday and struck the ball great. Nailed my driver all round. The wind combined with very hard/fast greens killed me though. I don't know how many shots hit the green then rolled off. I hit the front of the green with a 6i out of the rough on one hole and ended up 20feet behind the green. On the opening hole the starter complimented my drive "now
that's ideal". A high cut that started over the cartpath and cut back, running down to 70yds. out. My low flighted 60* hit the ridge 3ft. in front of the stick, dead on it and bounced 10yds. off the back.
