Looking for a Titleist D2 or TM Burner TP

My buddy whom I lent my R7 to has come back saying that he wants to buy it off me. Would rather it go to a good friend as opposed to some guy on ebay that I don't know. I would also be getting good money for it, too.

It is one of the original Quads, and although I like the thing a lot as the Pured Speeder 757 shaft seems to work real well for me, I do need to step up to date with technology, I think.

Now, as we all know, it is all about shafts. Really fancy either the D2 or the TP Burner, probs the former, but I would be willing to get something else that you might suggest if the shaft was right for me.

Shaft-wise, I am thinking along the lines of Aldila VS Proto, Speeder 757, or perhaps V2. I like them 70-plus Grams in weight and on the boardier side of things, too.

If anyone knows of anything anywhere, be it ebay, online stores, their own goods, etc., then let me know.

Thanks a lot,
A.

How would Diamana X Stiff 73g shaft compare, guys ? In terms of quality how would it pitch up against those I have mentioned ?

Cheers.

Diamana Blue Board® has an extremely balanced profile that provides maximum stability and accuracy. Blue Board players trust their shaft will respond fully to adjustments made for specific shots without unexpected draw. Depending on the fitting, a flatter, more boring trajectory is typical.

"Stumbled" across this earlier but I don't know much about the shaft. Reasonable price though.

Titleist 907 D2 460cc Driver 9.5* Aldilla Spec Grid 77 - eBay Golf Clubs, Golf, Sporting Goods (end time 15-Oct-07 09:30:00 BST)

From the Titty website.

The Titleist Spec Grid 77 by Aldila is a versatile high performance mid-weight shaft. The Spec Grid shaft provides an excellent combination of distance, feel and control and is a good choice for players of all swing speeds possessing a medium tempo.

the X flex would be perfect in a burner, its going to play a Strong Stiff flex maybe a good X with that weight. I have a Stiff in mine and my Burner Tp has an extra 6 grams in the head playing the tip a tiny bit softer and I bomb it... It is a little high how ever but thats mostly because of the 10.5 loft... I also hit a d2 today 3 swings with a Ys+-6 Stiff, I hated the shaft felt like a wooden dowel to me.. no feeling at all but to top it off i Smashed 2 balls with the D2 SMASHED THEM dead on the face and got a very awkward top spin that landed about 20 yards short of my driver.. Again I hit mine no spin.. went to the D2 and 2 more shots with NEW BALLS not cut or anything and I got the weird spin again... I also Pushed 1 d2 like 30 yards right.. but i think that was mostly me.. lol

But as far as AShaft selection, as long as you get fitted i would say a Blue White or Red board would be very very far from a wrong choice. They are quality.

Hi mate. Was really looking for something with 8.5, or possibly 9.5 degrees. What shaft is on that particular one of yours - 65g S flex ? Was sorta looking a shaft that is a wee bit heavier, and perhaps stiffer, too.

Let me know what sort of nick its in and what price you're looking though, lad.

Cheers,
A.

Overall, how do you think the two measure up against each other ? Am interested in the Burner, but tough to find one that doesn't have one of those ridicuously light shafts...!

Andy - it's the stock 65gm stiff. It's in very good nick - except for a smidge of bag rub on the shaft. The head still has no real marks on it to speak of.

I'm only after £150+ shipping or so really - whatever!

If it's not for you that's cool - it'll go up today or tomorrow for ebay.

Been having a look on US Ebay. Seems the dollar is up at over 2:1 on the British pound, so that can only be a good thing for me. Just need to persuade sellers to ship their club over the big pond !!

Been looking at one with Mitsubishi Rayon Red Board 67g in X flex and an X flex V2.

Opinions...??

You over here any time soon? I have a D2 with a Grafalloy Bimatrix in stiff which is a HEAVY shaft, a 905R with Blueboard 83g and a 905R with V2 76g both stiff you could have a demo of them if your over this way. I had a burner TP as well but I didn't like the looks of it, it looks slightly closed compared to the D2, I also hit the D2 much longer.

Andy,

I'm just putting my Burner TP 8.5* on US Ebay right now. It has a Penley ETA Tour X-stiff shaft in it.

If you are interested, let me know. PM me and we'll work something out.

Hmmmm, interesting enough is that, mate. Will PM ya here.

Paul: Not quite sure if I'll be over. Not be for 2 or 3 months anyway, I wouldn't think. All depends on what holidays I get granted to me. Would be interested in testing those, matey.

As they say here, btw: "You're a wild man !!"

('Wild' in the context of "unbelievable" or "shocking" for all those clubs you ho'.

Great stuff though, dude - you love it !!!

Well I am Biast for TM..

But with rumors of bad QC with Titleist i would stick with burner.. I can still work the ball if I have to, and It is a bomb...

and honestly, just find a used one, or even just a head, and buy a $45-60 V2 shaft, or grafalloy pro launch blue or red.. or many other choices of what would work for you.

Also TMAG has one hes selling I know that is a beast... for cheap also... and if not im sure he can get one...
