extreme, these are car audio amps right? Im looking to get a system in my little Saturn and dont really need much power, and im not trying to hijack your thread, think of it as a bump. What would you recommend in a system, looking at a !0" Bazooka tube, and a alpine head unit. Suggestions? Thanks.

15, Alpines are great head units. I would look at getting a kenwood amp, maybe a rockford. Dont get the bazooka tube, its junk. Go to best buy or circuit city and check out there open box stuff. Ive had alot of competition series stuff go through my trunk, but a good entry level sub would be a Infinity. Stay away from punch and sony. You'll probably want somewhere around 600 watts rms and find subs that can handle 300-350 rms each.

Alpines are the best. I've had most, and the Alpine performs. I also have an Infinity sub in my truck. Be careful of those, they are very power hungry. The 240 watts from the sub channel on my amp doesn't really push it very well. JL Audio is where its at with subs, IMHO. I had a bottom of the line 10 inch JL on a mid Kenwood amp, and it thumped.

BTW, I still have that Kenwood amp, 15, if you want it. Its older, but works great. Sell it to you cheap.

all my cars except my current car had alpine HU, JL subs, and boston acoustic component speakers w/ either alpine or rockford amps. boston acoustic + JL subs are superb combo.

Yeah, car stereo is stupid. That being said right now I have an Alpine HU, 2 Crossfire 1800 watt amps, and 4 Alpine type R's 12"s. Yes, I run two batterys and have a $500 alternator.

Back when I was into it I used 2 Kicker Solarbaric 8's at 450w a piece in a Toyota Tacoma. 1 of those RF's run mono to a single 10 Solarbaric would pound.

I've been out of this game for about 5 yrs now but, I gotta say I never had better luck than I did with my Eclipse 8443 HU. Before that I'd had all the major brands (Alpine, Clarion, Pioneer) and nothing even came close. As for Speakers/Subs I was always partial to Diamond Audio, for me JL was always just a marketing line gone overboard. Now if you are looking at subs the Adire Audio line were the unsung hereos of the SPL comps. Those things can move some air. But if you are on a budget the money into a good install. Just like golf clubs if you take the time to put it together right it will outperform the highend stuff that is just a halfass job.
