Never even heard of the 105 hybrid shaft. I'll get back to you on that, perhaps.

Aldila's website has virtually no information on this, just recommends SS of "100-110". Do you happen know where it fell for CPMs?

I have no idea what the cpm's are on this shaft, but I can find out. My average ss is about 108 with a driver and I find it a little bit tip stiff. I hit a 5 -10 fade with this thing. Just want to be honest. Will find out the cpm's if you are still intersted possibly, please let me know.

The master club-builder at the local GG told me that the NV was "tip stiff" and I was surprised. Find out the CPMs for me.

you realize that CPM's are only good for comparing 2 shafts of the exact same model. ie one 80g NV to another 80g NV. they are by no means good for determining the stiffness of the shaft.

ie you cant simply say that because it cpm's out at 260 it is a strong stiff. you just cant do that.

I'm going out with a friend for a beer around 7 so I'll stop by my buddy's house who is a clubbuilder and find out the cpm's for you. I don't know enough about clubbuilding to fully understand what football was saying but I will ask my buddy about it tonight. I'll post it prob. around 10 tonight.

Football is right. Knowing the cpm of that shaft will give you no idication at all of how it will play. It will only tell you how stiff it is in the butt section.

For example two shafts cpm at 260, yet one is stiff tipped one is soft tipped. They will play completely opposite each other.

thanks for confirming lyle!

*secretly runs around the building screaming because he finally contributed valuable clubmaking info* LOL

and you know what was funny, people on WRX were hyped up on cpm's, thinking it was THE most important thing ever. and then some clubmake came along and told everyone that cpm's were unimportant, and you could almost hear their bubbles being popped and tears flowing. LOL

yep, its just a number and unless used in context is actually more dangerous than it is helpful.

I have 2 shafts here, an Accra SC75 S (M4) flex and Accuflex Evolution. The Accra CPMS at 280 and the EVO is 254, yet the EVO is the far stiffer shaft from a playing perspective because of how tip stiff it is.

The cpm number is useless as you are not comparing it anything. You need to know what kind of shafts work for you, stiff tip, soft tip, mid bend, high bend, low bend, light, heavy, then you can start narrowing it down. A full shaft profile is a great tool for comparing different makes of shafts, butt frequency isnt.

id say that it all comes down to-

have you used an NV before, and did you like it?
NV's are somewhat tip stiff, they do launch the ball low, is that fitting for you?
also, what club is it going into, and would you have to tip it more to get it into said club?
