Well, I'm in the middle of making some BIG swing changes (not stack-and-tilt... ) and I don't think I can offer a real review right now.

I did use the driver three times on Sunday.

1st drive - nasty straight pull OB left. It was a really bad swing.
2nd drive- very nice and straight, but only about 220. Good ball flight.
3rd drive - a slight pull, but a decent drive, again only about 220.

I'm going to stick with the Epic until I get through all the lessons, and get comfortable generating power with a radically shortened backswing. Right now I don't generate the clubhead speed I'm used to, and my timing is off, because my swing "feels" REALLY different. My instructor says not to worry, that once I get comfortable, my SS will go up - above what it was.

I can say the shaft feels good. Seems very stable with a decent swing. I may have to send it back to TMag for a switch to a regular-flex, but again, I'll give this one a fair chance before I do anything else.

Hope that helps.

BTW - where's your Geek review????

Ah, another convert to the short backswing. I hit my driver 20 yards farther since I switched to a shorter backswing 14 years ago and ss is still 105 and you'll find with a short backswing a stiff flex works better (when you get used to it) so don't change flex yet. I always make consistent "sweet spot" face contact and it made a total improvement in my game. Just keep that left arm straight and you'll love it in time.

(Geek should be here this week for a weekend of golf with sssmokin!! I gotta cream that guy!!)

Thanks for the advice, WBL. That's exactly what I was hoping to hear, re: the shaft flex.

I am astonished at how what I'm feeling in my swing is NOT what I'm actually doing. He tells me to swing really short. It feels like I'm swinging back to 9 o'clock. I immediately watch the video replay, and it's like some completely different swing, the club going past parallel and my left arm going into a big bend.

"Shorter!", he says. So I try again. This time it feels like a chip shot backswing. And I'm STILL overswinging. The video doesn't lie, but my brain damn sure does!

Having instant replay high-speed camera footage available is pretty awesome.

Once I learn to coil properly and release properly, I think I'll have a decent swing. I'm pretty optimistic.

Go GEEK !!!
