Tour Edge Exotics Gear - Inital review.

Picked up the CB2 19*, 22* Hybrids with VS Proto 80S shafts, A CB2 15* 3 wood with a GD Purple Ice 85S, and a Tour Proto 9* with a VS 70S.

We'll start with the hybrids. Ive never been a fan of hybrid clubs, played some MID TP'S, Dual TP's and a IDEA Pro. At first sight, these look a little boxy at address, but I can manage. Both clubs have hit atleast their own bucket of balls at the range, and seen 3-4 rounds. All I can say is wow. Took out the 22* and picked a flag about 230 out, and was just going to town. Forgiving, yet workable. High fades, high draws, low fades, etc. Anything on comand. I was amazed at how consistant the distance was, that was my main complaint with other hybrids. I'd hit one 225, then the next 240, then 210. This bad boy was coming down at 230 every single stinkin time. Kind of a low flight for a hybrid, but completely awesome.
The 19* is more of the same, a little harder to work on command, but I only really use this when I have a 245-250 shot, which is semi rare aside from par 5's and the ocasional monster par 3. All in all, great clubs.

CB2 15*. First thought? Well, it carried past my burner TP driver. That should speak volumes. This thing is a cannon. Its fitted with the PI, and man, that shaft is great. Feels almost as smooth as a ys-6 but with the stability and kick of top end shafts. (diamana etc) Put it head to head with the 906F2 with a v2 right before shipping that off. Couldnt even come close to comparing. The 906 looked like a 5 wood in comparison. This thing is super straight, only really falling to the left or right after the apex. Long boring flight, but at the same time I can hit it into a green and have it stop within 20 feet. Hands down best FW ive ever hit.

Tour Proto 9* VS Proto 70S. Was a little worried it would be the exact same as the 3 wood distance wise, but it did not dissappoint. Took it to the range today, and if any of you have practiced at Orange County National, you know the magnitude of the place. We were on the lower tees and It was hitting on the bottom of the hill on the tee boxes accross the range, then taking off up it. Directly accross is over 300+, we did have a slight tailwind, but ive never even thought about getting across. Easily longer then the burner tp, maltby ct250, r7 tp, anything. Not super easy to hit, you can really slice one if your not careful as its a 2* open face, but man when hit on the screws it is a beautyyyy. Higher flight, but incredibly penetrating, it seemed like it was just hanging up there. Could use a tad more forgiveness, but its a players club.

EX-1 6-iron is on the way, along with a Forged blade or whatever TEE calls them 6-iron both with nippon shafts. Will hit these, then buy which iron set performs better.

This is only the prelims, havent only played one round with them, its hard to judge right now. I'll write an update next friday as I have two match play tournaments and 3 days of open play this week, and all of these clubs are getting bagged.

As long as i keep talking them up, I know I'll have a buyer if they ever go south! In all seriousness, Im set. When I decide on the irons, I'll be golden. Hmm, maybe a new walking / non tournament bag though. My walker is beat up and it sucks lugging a staff bag around.

Piper, I'll get some pics up tommorrow. Ive got a early practice round, then I'll clean everything up for my match play tourneys on monday and tueday. Both of them look amazing from address, which is all that really matters. PGCC is going great, my roomate is moving out at the end of this semester, so ive got an opening. In all reality, its the best decision ive ever made, education or career wise. Golf wise, its been amazing. You can really find a coach that works for you, we have 10+ that you can get daily free lessons with, I work with one of them solely. Its nice to get a lesson once a week, and a playing lesson every two or so. Im thinking next semester I'll join a local mini tour. There are some sick golfers here, we had a 9 hole tournament last week, we had kids come in at 29,30, etc. Plus, Its getting to be winter. Its 80*, not a cloud in the sky, gentle breeze. Hows PA? :P

OMG man.... Do you take regular classes there too? Or is it all straight golf?

PA sucks, im practising on my own, the other kid on the team doesnt even have his clubs here, and as to my knowledge we don't even have a full team yet....

Im tryin my best to stick it out to golf season, cuz im sure itll get better once im golfing, but its tough man... Your going to become a club pro right? Or to play professionally? Or do you do something totally diff?

Most of our classes are based on golf, sales, buisness, psychology, club fitting, fitness for golf etc. For now, im pissing around with the idea of becoming a sales rep, if that doesnt pan out, i want to be a straight teacher, not a head pro. I;ll play mini tours and such for the next few years and see how i progress. Weve been told, realistically we need to go out and shoot -6 anyday, any condition to have a chance as a pro.

Aye, its really the short game that will take us to the next level. Its sticking those 150 yard shots to 5' every time, being confident hitting 200 yard shots to inside 20'. Then being able to make that 5' putt 99% of the time, and being able to get up and down from anywhere for par. Putting down here is strange, Up north all I had to read was the break, now I have to read the grain too, FFS. Alot of us northern players are having a hell of a time with these bermuda greens.

Another lover of TEE fairways. I haven't found anything that comes close and it's helped improve my game quite a bit.

They are long, solid and have great feel. In the UK they are like hen's teeth but if you can try one I couldn't recommend them enough.

TEE's. Best fairway woods on the planet. The driver is not too shabby either.

i've hit the ex-1 and didn't care for them myself. they didn't have the best feel. i went with the forged cnc for the better feel but i am not sure about the milled faces on all the irons. seems like spin will become an issue.
