Bridgestone J33b Review

Alright boys, finally after a couple days of wayy too much sleep I finally made my way out to the course with these today. To my dismay, the range is now closed for the season cuz they are lazy and dont wana go pickup the balls... But im guna crack a deal with them so I can hit balls somehow, cuz the weather is still beautiful.

So im out straight to the course with these... Took me a little while, but once I got the swing in, I was able to stripe a few, and OMG do these things feel better than sex when you pure one. Best two shots I hit were probly my punch 5i on the 3rd, flew the green into a 15mp/h headwind from 175, and my personal highlight hole was the 215 yard par3 13th, striped a 4i to 5ft.

With these shafts (x100), these things are hard as hell to hit, along with my bad swing, I was hitting block cuts with more consistency than anything resembling a draw. At very least i'm going to downgrade in shafts as these are wayyyy too much for me to use with any consistency. I would like to continue playing the heads, but there is literally NO forgiveness in these irons, you either hit it properly (or thin shots you can get away with) or these things will go on a bender out to whatever is to the right side of where your aiming.

I can say right now, IF I do keep these irons, I will be getting a J33cb 2i to go with these, I don't even want to bother with a j33b 2i, I COULD hit it, but not with enough consistency I dont believe. I hit the 3i off of almost every tee, i'd say about 3/5 of the shots were either block cuts, or slices (yes I know the swing has a lot to do with this, but these shafts were like telephone poles, and I firmly believe i'll be able to hit these with weaker shafts).

The other thing I had problems with them when I did hit them, was into greens, I was unable to hold anything longer than a 7i on the green, they would just be all low bullets (that would fly the expected length, but had ZERO spin and would bounce right off the back of the green). After I played 18 I grabbed some impact tape from the shop and went back out to hit a few tee shots with the 3i again. Out of the 8 shots I hit, 2 were dead straight low bullets, 1 was a slight cut low bullet, and the other 5 were all block "large" cuts. But EVERY SINGLE SHOT I hit dead in the centre of the club...

Verdict - I'm going to give the heads another chance, but am definately pulling these x100s out, I just dont have enough in my swing to weild these shafts. Will be making another thread for shaft suggestions. But these heads are just PURE BUTTER when struck well!!!!!

I've hit blades before and have had nowhere near this amount of trouble. I was puring so many shots, but they'd turn out like crap because my swing just couldnt keep up with the shafts half the time.

The ones that my swing kept up with went soaring and even though these are a degree weaker than my racs, I swear they went farther too. I just really need some shafts that are better for my swing in them.

God they felt so soft when you struck them, it was a shame that half the pured shots i looked up at were cutting off into the rough.

It sounds just like sex sometimes. You think you're hitting it so well, but.....

OK, I'll just stop.

Alright, pulled the x100s today, hopefully can get rid of them soon.

Took the 3i, 7i and 9i shafts of the Rifle 6.0s I have laying here, and they actually worked really well. Of course even when I mishit these they just plain out werent forgiving at all, but they actually got some height on them and I was able to hold the 3i a few times. I think i'll throw the rest in either tmrw or tuesday and give the whole set the test with these shafts. Hit a lot of tee shots with the 3i, I absolutely pured one that had to have ended up about 240-250ish, I was just short of where I usually hit my 3w to.

Sry Lil_Huth, i'm guna give these rifles a shot, but in case they don't they'll come straight down to you. Give them a week and i'll get back to ya 100% about them.

All in all, im shafting the rest up, and shoving these in the bag. When i'm striking them well, OMG its like cheating. THAT'S how good they feel. Also something I don't get, is when I'm striking them, they feel like they go farther than my racs did when I pured them? Any ideas to this? As the j33bs have MORE loft on the irons?

All irons have different distances. I can pure like 3 diff sets of irons and on perfect strikes some go a full 15 yards farther with the same lofts. Just how they are made I guess. Or you can ask Lyle, sure he knows.

i think what ez has told me is valid about blades. blades have very small sweet spot, and if you go out side of this spot, you can't really transfer energy to the ball. if you get forgiving clubs, the face has large amount of sweet spot, that has same amount of energy transferable to the ball as the sweet spot of blades. so blades has only so much spot that transfer all its energy to the ball while the same amount of energy is dispersed in larger spance for cb. this is due to similar face design whether it's blade or not. this is also why the blades feels little better when you absolutely pure one and also goes further.
