Taylormade R7 CGB Max Driver

I have been looking into this driver, along with many others. Has anyone hit it and if so what were the results? Any reviews would be appreciated! Thanks.

I hit it on the launch monitor at the shop, one shot. 260.2 yds. with an 18yd. push. Not bad considering I had no idea where the clubhead was. It's light, very light. I thought the regular Burner was bad, this one is worse. I felt like I was swinging with my eyes closed or something. No doubt a lot of guys will crush this thing, I would too, just not going to be very consistant with it. I think "max" pretty much sums it up. Drivers are "maxed" out and no head is longer than another. It's a matter of which head/shaft best suits your swing and gives the best distance for your swingspeed and angle of attack. Personally I feel everyone and anyone would be much better off spending $50 on a good shaft fitting, $200 on a good head and $250 on a suberb shaft rather than $500 on some off the rack driver. Weights may enhance ballflight but clubhead lofts, face angles, COG and shaft flex, bendpoint, tip flex, butt flex and overall weight will effect it a heck of a lot more.

I owned one for a few days and it put the ball out there, but just felt dead. There's no way in hell to get a decent fade with it, even if you arrange the weights for it.

Not to bash it to much, but it's by far my least favorite TM driver I've ever hit. I'll stick with my Cobra L4V.

Friend of mine got one to try, had one round of 9 holes with it then promptly sent it straight back. Didn't agree with it at all, and I agreed. I couldn't stand how light it was....

I'm a massive TaylorMade fan, but when I seen the pictures of the CGB Max I was massively underwhelmed. I don't like the burnt red clubhead colouring, and I see no need to supersede the SuperQuad this soon .... but we know how much TaylorMade like to tinker with their top range of clubs.

I'm heading to the range on the 26th of this month while my Fiance and her friends discuss wedding "stuff", so I might give it a try. I noticed people saying it was lighter than the Burner, which is worrying because I thought the Burner felt incredibly cheap and flimsy despite it's looks.

I didn't play anywhere near as much golf last season as I'd have liked, so my SuperQuad will remain firmly in it's place as my numero uno club.

Haven't hit one but all the buzz I'm hearing here in Aus is that these stink big time. Have not heard one person who likes them. The BIG buzz at the moment over here (you have to remember we are a backwater that only gets the big name clubs) is for the XLS HiBore. Might be something to do with the V2 shaft, but whatever it is it's absolutely head and shoulders above the rest over hers and pretty reasonably priced.

The only people I hear that like them are the people reviewing them on golfsmith.

I actually like the looks of this driver from every angle but address; I just don't care for the red coloring at all. Aside from aesthetics, I took some swings with it at a shop one night and I did not like the weight or feel of the club one bit.

In general, I'm just not digging these uber light weight shaft and head combos. My problem isn't club head speed, I would actually like to have some idea what the club head is doing during the swing.
