I just keep mine clipped to the top of my bag. If driving a cart I will line the cart up with the ball & it's easy enough to take a quick glance at the yardage while choosing which club I need.

I will be getting my Golflogix GPS in my hands in a few days and am looking forward to using (New Toy!) it. The way I look at it is if it is something that gives a golfer confidence to make a quality shot go with it. Doesn't matter if the preference is GPS, Laser, yardage markers, the old Mark One Eyeball or any combination. I did go with GPS because it's hands off but who knows I might end up one of those freaks with both a GPS and a Laser.

I would say for the vast majority of us the GPS is more than adequate since we rarely can put the ball within a specific 5yd target on every shot anyways. The GPS is certainly more accurate than a lot of the yardage markers out on the course & it's a lot easier than hunting down a sprinkler head, which around here anyways a lot of courses don't even have marked.

Is this the Harold from Western WA and TST?

Welcome. It's a little more casual here.

Oh, and I'm one of those freaks. <embarrassed sigh>

Ok, if I'm understanding you all. You are not required to pay the membership if you don't download over 20 courses with the Golflogix GPS. So then, when you get it, is their a code or something that lets you download.

Who here actually carries their bag? I either use my push cart or ride.

BTW, today I had one hole where the GPS was not reading correctly. It was telling me I was 125 yds from the hole but I could clearly see it wasn't anything more than 105 or so. Noticed the batteries were getting low, changed them out & it read 102. Really need to keep fresh batteries in the unit or your readings will be way off.

Well.....I've been reading everything I can find on the various golf gps units, including the reviews on amazon gor th Skycaddie 2.5 and 5, Garmin GPS-8, Sonocaddie, igolf, and Golf Guru.

Somebody please make up my mind for me! It's too confusing!!!

So far the Golf Guru for $249 looks like the best buy to me. Does it work? Any problems?

2nd time playing with the Golflogix. Well worth every cent. Not having to look for sprinklers, stakes..etc. Distance to bunkers and layups...today was a very good test. Taking the annual trip to Myrtle Beach in November, so already downloaded the courses we're playing.

I played yesterday on a course that had Golflogix units on every cart. I cross-checked a lot of distances with my laser, and learned one thing:

If you want a device that gives you plus/minus 3-yard accuracy to the center of the green, then get a GPS. The distance to the flag will have to be an educated guess.

If you want a device that gives you plus/minus 1-yard accuracy to the flag, get a laser.

Eracer is right here... for me it was all about the convenience of the GPS. I've tried using the laser, and my hand/eye is not good enough to operate one LOL. All I see are my long lashes

I went for the guru for the added features. No complaints so far. Great service also.

Heh, Heh. New toy just arrived. I'm off to do some practice putting and then later I will start downloading courses. Anyone have advice on batteries? Some of the talk is the GPS yardage _might_ get a bit flaky as the battery power tends to go down. Is this anecdotal or verifiable? I'm considering rechargeable NiMH's and just keeping the batteries fully strength at the start of the round if it helps.

I just use the alkaline AA's in mine. New ones for an 18 hole round........then for the next 18, I carry spare batteries in case.

I'm looking at the igolf neo since it has a rechargeable lithium battery good for 16 hours and still holds 10 courses. You pay $35 for a years membership and can download 100 courses for that. Then you should have all the courses you would ever play and drop your membership. And it's really small (fits in your pocket) and only costs $149.
