If you don't play in tournaments, get the Renegade.

I would really like to try one of those, but that's a pretty expensive stick. Over twice what he'd spend on a 3DX Square right now (I think.)

I see the new 3DX square drivers going for $200. Rory ran a special on a shafted Renegade for $125. Even though the special is over, I think the Renegade will still be cheaper.

I see Wi got his for $104 shipped? Must be the 2007 model, which is not a bad thing.

GG has them new on closeout for under $100, Eracer...regular and tour. Probably are 2007's, but that's a whale of a price!

I should've taken Rory up on his deal, but I'm really trying not to buy another driver. I just asked the question because he plays the same driver I do so I'm curious how they compare.

So far, and for a long time, the Adams RPM Redline Dual Driver has been my favorite. Its easy to hit, feels good, looks good at address. But, I wanted one of the new squares, with the MOI idea inside.

The Nickent took me a lot less to find the groove with. Mishits are more forgiving with the Nickent--I lose Uber distance with mishits, but they were generally straight.

The Driver, for me, is the hardest club to hit. Always has been, always will. I'm looking to find something to help me out and the Nickent is def. the most forgiving so far. I still like the Adams alot, and hopefully will be able to swap back and forth between the two at will.

I'm not sure what else you may be looking for as far as info on differences between the two.

Yeah, you can get the 3DX for right at $100 with not too much looking -- but that price on the Renegade is much less than I thought they were. I thought those heads alone were like $150. I guess I haven't looked around enough.

Your Nickent is a 9, Adams is a 10.5. How do they compare as far as ball flight?

I can't tell you what the Adams flight is like, but the Nickent 10.5º compared to the Burner 10.5º is something I can do. The Nickent has a much lower flight, the Burner would often ballon up no matter what tee height I used. With this square driver the path is much lower.

Something that I guess will just take time to get used to is how the club feels when hitting a ball. It has that wierd aluminum bat sound & while it definietly goes nice & straight most of the time, it doesn't have what I would consider a lot of "feel". I know that's sort of objective but I compare it against my TM Burner 3w, which I absolutley love & have no intentions on ever giving it up. The 3w when it connects feels real solid & you don't even have to look up to see how the ball is flying, you just know immediately from the sound & the feel, has a nice solid feel to it.

I miss the Burner & most likely am going to dump the FT-3 & get another one only with a stiff shaft. Don't get me wrong this Nickent so far is proving to be a great club, played another 18 after work today....I walked it & am tired right now....anyways hit 8 out of 13 fairway attempts & as the other day the mishits weren't far off the fairway.

Very similar, at least with my swing. The Nickent is somewhat lower, but generally speaking, I have a really high trajectory shot with all of my clubs anymore. I can even pull my old Adams Tight Lies 8* and hit it high as a kite.

But, the Nickent is noticeably lower than the Adams (at least with my 9* vs. the 10.5*). I think another 18 holes with the Nickent, and I'll be able to give a better idea of what I think of the club. Remember, I only played 6 out of 9 holes with it the other night, and really only hit it well 2 or 3 times. That was with NO time at the range. I have a 402 T time today, I'll stop back by and let you know some more info after my round!

Played 9 in Oconomowoc at Paganica after 6 Sigma class today, hit 6 out of 7 fairways. Distance is remaing the same, hanging in the 220-230 range, wish it were more but oh well. I will take straight & in the fairway over 270 but in the woods anyday.

Six sigma class? I used to "teach" that for the company I work for...

And the Japanese (who we got this from) are probably shooting for 12 sigma now...

I can't stand this crap, so far it's been 8 days worth of training with the last one tomorrow.

Up in the air a bit with this club, it certainly does appear to be easier to keep straight however the distance is down from the FT-3 as well as my old Burner. If I were to hit both clubs the same the FT-3 feels more solid & the distance is certainly more than the Nickent. As I have mentioned many times I am not a long hitter & so far it seems like the Nickent is maybe a 220 yd club for me, sure I have hit a few in the 240's but those are few & far between. Whereas the FT-3 will easily go 230-240 & I have hit a couple in the 270 range.

Now I just need to decide if I want control or distance? The FT-3 is hot or cold for myself, it's either right down the middle or way the hell out in right field.

I feel your pain - it's the reason I have a CT250 currently in my bag. I know that I hit the 3DX Square straight every time without question, and can split a fairway (no matter how narrow) with no effort at all. But it seems short. I can get 20+ extra yards out of this CT250 - the problem is I may hit one out of three fairways. I guess I'm convinced I'll eventually be able to tame this CT250 and have the best of both worlds. If I had any sense I'd just keeping hitting the 3DX dead straight, but I want more...

I'm hoping I'll come to my senses after a couple more rounds and get back to the Square, because I know it works every time I swing it.
