Noodle Ice balls

On the advice of Lyle directed at WBL I decided to try out the Noodle Ice, Lyle says they work better for those of us with slower swing speeds & I don't break 95mph. Anyhoo this is how it went down today, played 9 holes after work with a buddy & I used an orange noodle since Wally world didn't have any white ones. I used strictly 3w or iron off the tee for the 1st 8 holes & this was the result

1-fir & gir
2-fir & gir
3-par 3 missed green
4-fir & gir
5-missed but made gir
6-par 3 gir
7-missed & no gir
8-missed & no gir
9-fir & gir

Thats 4 holes with fir & 6 gir's. I have never had 6 gir's in an 18 hole rd much less a mere 9 holes. The noodle ice worked very nicely & with the 3w I was hitting it 215yds, what struck me was the difference w my 5 iron, normally I am 175 yds max with that club & today I had 2 shots, 1 off the tee & another from the fairway that were between 180 & 185 yds. The ball really seemed to respond well to my swing & I have to say it performed beautifully. Hopefully it's not just a placebo effect & this will continue. Also on the 9th I finally decided to use driver & attempt to clear the trees on the dogleg left which saves a bunch of yardage. Easily cleared them & landed on the fairway exactly 199yds from the hole on a 460 yd hole....now I know it wasn't a 260 yd drive since I cut the corner but it was still a nice shot that set me up very nicely for the 6th GIR.

Now for the bad & you guys may get a kick outta this, I shot a 45 for 9 holes & you may be saying...but you had 6 girs! Yep & I also couldn't putt to save my life today, frickin 5 holes where I 3 putted. Shot a 45 total & 22 of them were putts!!!!! Pull my head outta my ass & putt like I know I can & this rd easily could have been a 37-38. I am thinking that maybe the oddball orange color was throwing my putting off, at least that's the story i'm going with.

Oh well it's water under the bridge now & I have say for now the Noodle Ice balls are a winner. Will pick up the white version of these & see how they perform over a period of a couple weeks.

Nice review. The ball takes a bit of getting use too. I hit my 4 iron over the back of a 190 yard par 4 today and my 5 wood 230 yards into a ravine. This damn ball goes like no other.

Good to hear since I got my order of two dozen white ones today (at $10.95 a dozen)!! Will try them for league Thursday if anyone needs me to sub for them.

And Lyle, you're supposed to read my review on the G10 driver I bought instead of the Tour Burner...

How do they work in the short game? I have been waiting for a quality orange golf ball since the mid 1990's and am intreagued. I do not need a ball to spin like crazy, but is there enough spin to have some control in the short game off the wedges?

They arent bad at all around the greens. Not a pro-v1 by any means but you still have a good bit of control over the ball.

An orange ball?!?! You played an orange golf ball?!?! I understand if the white balls are not available at a pro shop and you don't have a lot of time to play after work but you must never, ever play a ball that's any color but white! Sorry...just my demented thoughts!

The orange is pretty cool looking. The blue and green are impossible to find once hit. Honestly, who the hell makes a green fuking golf ball?

As a rule I never buy a ball from anywhere buy a pro-shop, but I'm intrigued to try a wacky colored ball for a round or two. I'd never switch from my ProV1s, but it might be a litle fun to spice it up a bit. Those UV balls looked interesting.

Yep, that's what I paid.

And Lyle, no shit about the green ones, who the hell ever thought green golf balls would be a good idea? The orange ones are actually pretty cool becuase they are real easy to locate, much easier than a standard white ball.

I used to play Orange balls exclusively in the 90's. I was able to follow the ball flight better and find it in the rough easier with the day glow color. The only time I had issues was when I lived in New England in the fall as the orange semi-blended in with the falling leaves.

We don not have that leave problem in Florida.

I have been waiting for a 3-Piece Orange ball to be produced, but that does not look likely so I may have get some of these while they are available on closeout.

Haha. That's ridiculous. Those might be for the avid hunter who likes to take down a buck or a moose with his Titleist's.
