I'll be playing TWO sets of tees forward from the tips, at 6,800+ and the slope from there is 131. I played Bethpage Black, but this course will probably surpass it in toughness. I played B Black a few years before the Open and it was extremely tough, but not quick Open tricked out yet.....

I would post a photo or two of Purgatory, but I do not want to tempt the golf gods in the least. With hole names such as "Hell's Half Acre" "The Centaur" and "Blinding Cloud of Smoke" well... would you tempt fate?
let us know how it goes. i know that i would love to go down and play there some day. scotty and all.

my friend says its the toughest course he has ever played. number 2 is the bull in wisco.

play well.

I have the same Scotty too. I got it in 360g though..it's an awesome thang. The Select's are by far one of the softest SC's yet.

Just don't buy into the rest of the cult. I'm up to about 8 (maybe 10) putter covers and have the cash cover (see photo) and a pivot tool inbound and a putter cover for my buddy (see other photo). Yellow Submarines. Some sort of Beatles pun, I guess.

Or maybe, buy in, it is kinda fun.

Absolutely thrilled with a 79. I was hoping to be in the 80's and I failed!!! Hit lots of greens, lots of tap in pars. Four one putts, one three putt.

Purgatory is the hardest course I have played. Bethpage Black is now #2.

You should get a room Slingblade. And I should have got a bucket before reading your post.

'Witchcraft', 'spells', 'love'. We are talking about putters here people! Sure, Scotty putters are nice to look at but they have always been way over priced and even more over hyped. I can honestly say that I've never used a Scotty that has done anything for me. I find them to be a bit harsh and inconsitent in feel, and don't roll the ball particularly well. Maybe I've used the wrong ones, but form my experience Odyssey XG series, Nike Ignite series and all Yes putters blow anything from Scotty off the green in terms of feel, roll and distance control. Not to mention price. And at the end of the day all most of them really are are Ping knock offs.

P.S. The Scotty Cameron Red X putter are the worst feeling mallet putters I have ever seen.

Maybe it was your improper putting that the Yes, and others are assisting you with.

Honestly, a Scotty is a special thing, the purpose of this thread. I've changed in the past 2 years, but here's the lowdown...

A Scotty Cameron is similar to a nice wine. Some people drink a nice bottle of wine, and see no big special thing. For the cost, you could get something that to them tastes better. But the appreciation of what the Scotty, or wine, is, is what matters.

Exactly Jeff, some people will never understand the Scotty Experiance. I like your comparison of putting with a Scotty and drinking a fine wine.

I guess you just have to be in the right mindset to fully enjoy and understand the experiance of putting with a Scotty. They are perfectly balanced and beautifully made. Like putting with a work of art. But they aren't for everyone. Are they over priced? Certainly. But then again so are all the newest and greatest drivers. Is the latest offering from Taylormade with the most recent wiz bang shaft worth $800.00 or more? No, but people are buying them aren't they?

Do I regret buying my 1st Scotty, certainly not, do I regret accidentily buying my 2nd one, not at all. Will i buy more in the future? Who knows?

Fair call. I suppose if we all liked the same things and agreed on everything all the time the world would be a dull place.

I like you, not that it means jack. But I appreciate that you can take my somewhat offensive post, and not get offended.

Honestly, for feel (excluding the new scotties) I never really liked them that much. But personally, I never really cared for feel. I've always been about what I like looking at, at the time.

Hence my 2nd will be on the way soon.

Does anyone else see the irony in this discussion? We have people that are constantly buying club after club, shaft after shaft, even if they like what they have in their bags. Yet they question the price of a putter? I find it humourous.

I'm hearing you loud and clear, SV. This somehow seems appropriate, not for you of course.
