10.5-degree with OEM Fuji HL55 shaft (stiff). I'll try the shaft/head combo, and if the launch is too high I'll put a different shaft in it.

I'll post my results when I get the beast...

Is it a little Queer eye to get the same 3-wood as your driver?

After hitting the driver, I have been scouring ebay and finally found a 3-wood 15*, lightly used, for $225 delivered.

I haven't played the same brand Driver and 3-Wood since my first set which included the good old driver, 3-wd, 5-wd setup.

I could review the 3-wood after it arrives and I play a bit with it if anyone would be interested.

I usually only use a 3-wood 2 or 3 times a round, so it won't be that big of a stroke saver I am thinking. And I hit my current Adams 3-wood just fine.

I am just afraid that I'm going to love the 3-wood so much that I'll need to get the Hybrids. Then I'll love those so much that I'll need to get the irons. Gay, gay, gay.

I just did a total turnover in my bag. The 3-wood and SW were the last two clubs that I played last year. Even those two I had changed as I had spine-aligned their steel shafts.

I'm just afraid I'll look too flamboyant having two of the same companies headcovers in my bag. What do you all think?

Or should I just get some stuffed animals and start staying at the YMCA? Tiger has animals and he's all man, right?

if you like it then who cares and if anyone gives you a funny look then take it out on the next tee and blast it past their driver.

give us a review if ya get it. i played with my exotic driver yesterday and loved it so i am thinking of trying the 3 wood also.

I thought I'd chime in with a report of the first hits with my Exotics driver. I got the 10.5 degree with the Fuji HL-55 stiff. Took it straight to the course last evening for 9 holes.

I have to say that I am very unhappy with it at this point. I'm not the greatest driver of the ball by any means, but I can control my R5 pretty well. The Exotics was all over the place - high left, low right, low left, etc. I did not hit a single decent drive. I felt like my swing was OK. I was hitting my irons and 4-wood pretty well. The driver was for shite. No feel at all.

I'm going to take it to the range and try to get a feel for it, then I'm going to put a ProLaunch shaft in it. Then, if it doesn't jump up and become a fairway-seeking rocket launcher, I'm going to sell it. Rock - you get first dibs. And if you buy it and don't like it, rest assured I will take it back and deal with it on eBay.

thats too bad. hopefully switching the shaft will help. i have the NV shaft in mine and its seems to control my ball flight very well. i am assuming the fujikara hl is soft in the tip and could lead to some inconsistency. good luck with whatever you do

I know how you feel. Lately this is the way I am swinging my G2. The wierd thing is that when I first got it, I was hitting it straight!

Maybe we ought to start a golf club commune: when we buy clubs we can't hit, we put them in a communal "barrel". Any member is welcome to try them out for free, and buy them if you like them, or send them on to the next person if you don't. Seems like this would really work well for drivers, since they seem to be so idiosyncratic.

Count me in. And frankly, I can't believe I would actually just send something to someone without security, but oddly enough, I trust the people (at least the long-timers) on this site. Because you're golfers?

E,

Send me that driver. I'll give it a test drive. Actually, this might work out great, as I have two friends interested in moving up to something newer in the 10.5* range. Me? I'm a low loft dude, but i'll still burn the tires off it.

I'll send you a PM...

Crap. After having a short but straight driving day, I'm having an urge to buy one of these exotics beasties. But I don't know what loft/shaft to buy.

My 983K is the best hitting driver I've had. It's a 9.5* with a regular flex Graphalloy Prolite shaft. What Exotics combo would be closest?

After selling my G2, I've got $170 in my Paypal account and it's killing me.

I picked up the re-shafted (Grafalloy Comp NT - stiff) Exotics yesterday and took it to the range. What a difference. Not a single wild shot. No slice, no hook. I could take a pretty hard swing at it and have the ball go straight. Some shots went short on a higher trajectory, but they were straight. And the good swings produced good shots. It seems to be hitting shorter than my R5 with the same shaft, but it's hard to tell distance at my range. At least I have the confidence to take it out and play a round with it today - something I definitely did NOT have with the OEM shaft. I'm off to play my first round for the USA with the club. More updates to follow.

OK, another wad of money probably blown: I just eBayed a Exotics 10.5* with the Fukijura HL55 shaft in regular flex. So if I can't hit it straight I should blame the shaft, and put in another one?

Absolutely. Night and day difference between the HL55 and the Comp NT.

BTW - if you end up wanting to sell your G5, I might have a buyer. Not a "RIGHT NOW" sale, but definitely some interest.

It was a G2, and I already sold it. Good club, but loft too low for me.

Hope I can hit the Exotics without having to change the shaft. This is getting expensive.

little update on the exotics driver. still like it but have found on harder swings i am getting a high hard draw. i thought the NV shaft it came with would work but it looks like its coming out and i am going to try a stiffer shaft. not quite sure what shaft yet.
