Titleist 975J Driver

I just wanted some opinions on the price I got and what you think of the club in general... I just bought a 9.5 degree Titleist 975J Driver (which I have hit before and was long and straight) on E-bay for $70 U.S. shipped.. It is in Great condition.. 9/10.. Do you think this was a good buy? Or what.. im really wondering if i made the right choice to buy this club for the price...Thanks in advance

no. you couldve gotten the far superior and more recent 983k for the same price. in fact, just for fun i bought the 975J and the 975D three weeks ago for 25 bucks a piece after shipping. sorry to rain on your parade. that said, I hit the 975J pretty damn far with a nice trajectory---its is just very unfogiving as compared to todays 460s.

but heres the important thing thats going to allow you to avoid this problem in the future---actually there's two ways both of which are necessary tools for certified club hos.

1. when unsure of what a fair price is for a club, always run an advanced search on ebay (with the club name in the search field) and check off the "completed listings only" box---organize by price and you see all the recent completed sales of searched item. i never by a club without seeing what the best price anyone has gottne recently on the club is.

more generally you can use the pga value guide which essentially summarizes this info on any given club (its actually an awesome database just to see what clubs are out there) and using ebay transactions gives you a low, mid and high sale price and also gives you an idea of resale value. i think the site is valueguide.pga.com or something klike that, just google it.

Well... i did all the researching for the club price and for other Titleist clubs.. even the newer models... ,but I wanted a 9.5* Regular Flex Shaft Titleist and I wanted it by this Thursday... So I was definitely looking for a BUY IT NOW item.. so I bought It for 55 and 15 for shipping.. In my opinion and the pro that I go to think it was a great buy.. the guy I bought it from only used it for 2 rounds b/c he accidentally ordered a 9.5* when he wanted a 10.5*.. I appreciate your input though, Chip.

If it's in good condition and you like it then it's worth every penny. At $70, if you get one season of enjoyment out of it then you're doing better than me. That would leave me with 3 more years of playing my R7 to acheive the equvilent utils of satifaction. Economics.

My baby (975J) is really long when I catch them but can be awfully wild when I'm slightly off key. I'm upgrading to an r7 so hopefully that will be better
