taylormade r7 460 TP Stiff 10.5, Awesome!!

I had originally bought the r7 460 10.5 and the sales rep had me swing on a monitor. Well I had been driving for two hours to get there and I was stiff as can be. 93.5 was all I could muster after 20 or so swings. I said I needed around 70 swings to really get loose, but he assured me he knew I needed a regular flex. This is one he said. Well I get home with it and go out with it for 3 days . 220-230 max with it. So I really started to let it rip. I would make contact with the ball and then I could feel the head catch up with kind a of a thud, thud, through the grips after striking the ball. This was not going to do. I was all over the place with this shaft head combo, as soon as I put some oomph on itthe head trailed so much I had to start compensating with where I was standing by as much as 6 inches back.

So I got on the shaft makers website and found that I had been given the wrong shaft for my high load backswing and mediocre swing speed. So back for another two hour drive. After much persuassion I convinced the sales rep I could use a different shaft. I also saw the tour model sitting there just begging me to spend 6 bills on it. So I was still under the thirty day trial , 4 days into it and I picked up the tour model. I immediatly left the shop and went to the range. I warmed up a little and started hitting . The flat face made me have to be much more precise, at least it felt that way. After around a bucket of warm up balls I went for it. 240, 250, 260 uphill. Well today I put two around 270 into the wind with a fade. I had to get over my slice that had developed from swinging a wet noodle of a shaft on my first purchase. I will cut this short and leave this with if you are looking for a driver that is precise and has good distance and workability than by all means try the r7 460 Tp Stiff shaft. I am a month into the game and am driving even with most of the guys on the range.

Yes, this last Saturday was one month. I had a set of clubs 4 weeks ago I bought at a yardsale for 5 bucks. I went to the Little river golf course and made some shots that would have made Espn and decided this was my sport. It just seems so natural. I really have to say nice clubs have helped my confidence alot. I have not had a birdie yet, I keep missing these darn 5 foot puts. I just get all happy and excited and overthink it.

The driver is very sweet and forgiving. I had a bad hit yesterday that was almost(it was) below the hozzle and it still carried 200yds into the fairway.

I am going to go again today and see what I can do with loading my wrists and get a little more snap. I will propably set myself back a couple of days but what I learn and gain should make up for it.

I almost forgot. I have the 10.5 and with this driver it tends to really put alot of height on the ball when hit well and square. By all means I should have got a 9 or 9.5.

This sounds like a guy I've played with before. Shooting in the 70 after a year. He was pretty disciplined though. Reading books on course management and had great fundementals through lessons.

Once again, I want to believe you Jim, really I do.

After 4 years(freshman-senior) I could barely hit 230, and that was on a good day, even then my handicap was around 10, give or take.

To hit the ball that far, and hit a TP that far, is rather incredoulous, we just are skeptical, is all.

What will it take....

I shot 46 on the back 9 today. One month into the game .....I sleep and dream golf, somtimes it is to much. But what a blast today I had a drive run out to around 240 on hole number one little River ... There must be somone else here that plays there. Well Guys, Iam here to stay, God be willing. I have been having trouble with my slice and my angle of attack. I dont have a local driving range, this is surely stifling me.

You keep mentioning Little River...is that the course near Pinehurst, NC? I'm not far from there.

If so, what shop are you getting clubs at?

The Little River Golf Course that Iam talking about is 3 hours North of San Francisco. You can see the ocean from from four of the greens. Had my longest drive ever yesterday on 8th hole, Just a good tempo, nice deep backswing and a sweet in to out. My slice is gone. I didnt make the 328 yard green but I had to yell "Four on the Green!". It sure carried with a little 5mph wind. I love this game, to bad its raining like mad.

Another lovely course is Sea Ranch Golf (Links?). 7200yds of hazards and blind greens. One of the holes is right on the bluffs, you actually have to hit a across a ravin with the ocean just to the right. And by all means the Tp r7 460 is nice. It is very easy to hit a fade, draw, and really easy to hit a slice. I havent yet got a good hook.

We have a range net for irons, but after hours they have been letting me hit my driver. Last night I cleared the net 4 times and sent them down fairway 1. The net is around 50 ft high and is around 200 yds back and around 20ft higher at the back than at the tee. The fairway is 5 feet higher that the back of the net. I figure they would have rolled out to 270+. The driver is nothing short of flawless. A vast amount of my practice drives went here and there but to no fault of the driver. Pratice equals consistancy.

Little River has only 9 holes so playing the "back 9" is a little tough....

You guys aren't buying what this guy is selling, are you?

At little River 7 and 9 are different pins. If this helps. Thanks winders you made my day. I must be doing great to have you be a skeptic. I did not shoot well today 235 yards longest drive off hole one. I am coming down with the flue. This is a dead topic.

This is about the driver not me....

There is a guy in this forum 63 years old shooting in the 70's after 5 months. Iam 31 5'8 and 178 lbs with a 32 inch waist. Is 270 plus with a smooth swing to hard for everyone here? I seriously doubt it. Iam sure there are many here that can hit 300+.
