KZG cavity back II

I just got a set of the kzg cavity back II irons with DG S300 shafts.

http://kzgolf.com/Irons_CBII.aspx

Initial observations:

Great looking clubs, very traditional looking, reminds me lot of the mizuno mp30's as they have very shallow cavity. Definitely not a game improvement clubs. I'll write more comprehensive or add to this thread after this weekend. I'll see if I can put up some pictures too.

KZG makes great stuff. But like all the other top quality component companies, they dont think lefties need irons, or at the least non shovel ones.

KZG will probably be my next set of blades since Mizuno is modifying them too much. If they went back to a more traditional blade like some MP-14's then I would get a set. I have also been looking at some of those snake eyes blades.

Toski makes a great blade as well. Very little offset, and its the same throughout the entire set. They have as much offset (.080)on thier 3 iron as a Mizuno has on an MP33 wedge.
They are a true players blade, linky poo provided.

Those are some nice blades. I think I am going to buy one head of the KZG and Toski and try them out with some DG TTX100's and see which one I like the best.

This review is based on the differences between the kzg irons and my old set Taylor Made rac tp (2005 version) irons.

Both are DG S300 shafts and 3 degrees flat and standard length, supposedly. The grips on both sets are golf pride tour velvet. First of all, I noticed that kzg set is little lighter as TM has more mass behind the sweet spot. Also, the kzg has more offset which I was little concerned about as I do not like too much offset. I would say the offset on the kzg is very similar to the Titleist 704CB.

The feel on the kzg is definitely softer than the TM, feels very nice on well struck shots and chipping. On the back swing, you can feel that the club is lighter due to less mass on the club head but I didn't find this to be a problem.

It looks like this set is about 5 yards shorter than my old set, possibly because these are lighter or because I'm not fully comfortable with the set yet. I was also worried about drawing/hooking these because of the added offset but didn't encounter any of these problems. Didn't try fading them as I'm still not very good at it. The only club I can consistently fade well is my driver.

The trajectory on these are also little higher than the TMs, which I'm sure contributed to the shorter distance and also, when I did hit the greens, they spun quite well but then the course was little wet so that might not be a good indication of the irons.

Well, that's all I got. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them and I'll try to get some pictures up later.
