Nickent 3DX DC 20º Ironwood Hybrid Review

While at the indoor dome driving range in Milwaukee I pulled this new X-mas present out for a few hits. Because the dome is too small for normal distance I can only tell if I'm hooking or slicing the ball and how easy it is to hit.

I hit it strictly from the mat without teeing it up. This is sweet. I hit shot after shot straight as an arrow down the middle. This is not a hooker or slicer. I would not have been hitting my long iron like this. I have found something to save me some strokes!! Eureka!!

Buy this. You won't regret it.

See below for details on shaft etc.

Although I haven't hit a Nickent, I have heard good things about it. Just this month I replaced my 3i & 4i with Toski 21* & 25* hybrids, with the Grafalloy ProLaunch hybrid shaft. They give me much more height and a little more distance. One thing I have found with them is that I have to move the ball a little forward from an iron position or I get a push.

How about for someone who has a natural right-left ballflight?

I've got a nice VS proto 95-X hybrid shaft with your name on it.

Good review WBL. I want to hear how you stick it on a par 5 after one of the Rapture bombs and make the eagle. No frontin' now dog. (as the kids say)

Be careful which one you buy!! This is NOT the "Genex". Make sure it has "DC" with it or it is the OLD model and the face is not as hot and it isn't weighted as well.

I CAN'T WAIT to go after a par 5 now Ezra!! This thing has me really excited about that oportunity... Or a long par 4!!

I was originally going to get the V2 shaft you have in yours but thought I'd try the standard on since it is made by UST. It's not a bad shaft at all.

(I will trade you even up, however, for yours with the V2 in it)

I think it would work GREAT for anyone. It is a SWEET club!!

My question is, when will Nickent finally be considered on the same tier with the big boys?

I played around with their DC hybrid a couple of weeks ago at the shop. Had I looked at these before I got used to my Sonartec boxes they probably would've ended up in my bag; nice club at a nice price.

If you believe their website (and Jody of Accuflex also said this) they're #1 on the Nationwide tour and #3 on the PGA tour and they don't pay anyone to play them!! That's pretty good in my book. (Sonartec is pretty good stuff too!!)

Oh, I believe the pros know. The problem is that these pros are playing without being paid and therefore all Nickent can say is that they are #1 & #3. If these guys were on the payroll then they could say exactly who is playing them and joe (or jane) public would be rushing to the store to get these. I did see that Nickent was featured on The Golf Channel's "What's in the Bag" a while back.

Definately a little draw bias in the DC. I hit most of my clubs pretty straight, except the DC which draws for me nicely. Demo first if your already a drawer. Jon

i have the one thats not a dc, the old one as you put it, and i dont find it to be that short. I bought it to replace a 3 wood and i hit it just as far as the 3 wood, but hit it well 95 percent of the time vs 60 w/ the 3 woods. for 60 bucks, it not a bad buy either.

seconded on the draw bias... I hit one (although I think it was the older version) and it had a nice draw to it... not as bad as the rescue mid however and it felt solid. This one must have been the older version since I remember it being pretty large head also. It's very tough to find one that is not draw bias unless you go tour... I mean these things are supposed to be replacing 3 and 4 irons and not aimed at scratch golfers , there is going to be draw bias... unless of course you get lucky and find someone willing to sell you their J33

Well NOW you tell me!! Actually I was just going by the review I read. I've never hit the Genex version.

I'm considering finding another Hybrid, how far do you hit the 20° vs the 23°? I want to replace my 3 iron. When I had the G5 22° it seemed to me more of a 3 iron than a 4.
