HiBore and R5TP

Here's some comparison's of results between myself and twofast2's today at the range with the Hibore and the R5TP.

Both of us were swinging pretty well in our grooves for a while. So any driver either of us hit today would have given us pretty true results. I started off with my R510 and then went to the HiBore for a few. Man this thing hit's it high. I hit it higher with the 9.5* and V2 stiff than any driver ever. It's straight. I hit a half dozen not at the 250 sign...but at a spot between the 2 and the 5.. I then switched back to the 510TP briefly. Hit 3 dead straight but lower, longer and more boring than the Hibore. I then picked the Hibore back up, set up for a big fade, like to take it 25yds. L to R around a dogleg. I creamed it long, high and about a 3yd. fade. lol. I then hit the exact same setup and shot with the 510TP. About a 30yd. fade, dead accurate to my face position. It's not quite as long as my 510TP, 100times more forgiving but no workability. 3 flights with this one, straight, push or pull.

So then 2fast gets warmed up with the HiBore. He hits those long bombs that are just ever so slightly pushed. I give him my R5TP 8.5*. I was right, he hits a high draw and the Hibore just wouldn't draw. Let me just say I may have to give or pay him to take the R5TP... It just wouldn't be right for him not to hit this club. He literally hit about a dozen 5-10 yd. draws that were amongst the longest drives I've ever seen. He hits that 8.5* 50feet high.

So the results... take what you will from this. My opinion, when I'm swinging decent, the 510 is a better club for me to play, when not, I would definitely benefit from the Hibore. Same with 2Fast. He'd hit the R5TP 10yds. longer, as long as he was in the groove and hitting the sweet spot.

The Hibore is shorter, as you've seen, but it's dead straight. No workability tho.

Apparently, the XL Tour is even longer, and just as forgiving and straight. That's nuts.

Nice review, Ez.

They had the HiBore XL tour at the shop. The specs on that red Fuji stock shaft look pretty good too. When 2Fast gets back from NC he might get it to take out as a demo. I would probably want an 8.5* if it is as high as the original he has. I can't imagine a lowere launch shaft would help, a V2 stiff is pretty low. The XL is pretty mean looking too, I could see myself playing this one in an 8.5* and carrying something like an R7TP 13* TS for a 255-260 max workability tee club. Maybe next year...er um month.

As a thought, the new XL has "regular" CG, not like the HiBore's exaggerated low CG. So, you tee the ball normally, and it hits the ball like a "normal" 9.5*. So don't think that the HiBore is a good judge for loft.

If I could do it again, I would get an 8.5* too. For the Hibore, not the XL.

I need golf buddies dammit. No one i play with wants to spend the range time with me or has the knowledge to be of much help if I could talk them into going. So I'm stuck getting bored at the range by myself. Back on topic. nice review. If I wasn't itching to spend money on irons I might be considering reworking my game off the tee box.

the r5tp was definitely loooong. but when i'm not on the groove, a push or sometimes hard slice towards the end.

i can slice my hibore, but not as dramatic as the r5tp. i really liked it, felt nice and also the look of it on grafalloy shaft was very appealing. when i come back from NC, i'll get the xl tour to demo and perhaps, possibly, ho r5tp from ez.

I might give it to you just so I can watch you hit it. I've only seen Nsherman has hit drives that long, that high, sweet draw with an 8.5*. What I wouldn't give...

Get out of here and get back to the books. Get lost.

There are only so many club-hoing, $hit talking, no-brushing bums this world can handle... someone has to fix our teeth... and make $500K a year. lol. Just think, that HiBore XL Tour would be the equivalent of an extra value meal to my income.... not even supersized. Not to mention you'll be playing on courses where the tee boxes have nicer grass than the greens where I'll be playing. lol. You'd still invite me up for a round and a root canal on the house though, right.
