Swing Weight Question

I was just trying to figure out how much of a swing weight change will take place when I switch to a heaver shaft. I got this from the TM website my R7460 has an overall weight of 320g with a 60g shaft and a swing weight of D3. I will be putting in a UST V2 75, can you figure out the swing weight change by just adding the extra shaft weight or do you have to balance it at the fulcrum point and measure it out. I don’t know how to exactly figure out swing weight so if anyone “Lyle” can figure this out it would be great.

you will add about 1.66 swing weight points. Every 9 grams of additional shaft weight = 1 SW point. So it goes from D3 to D4.66

Take 3 SW points off for every 1/2 you cut it down. So D4.66 to D1.66

I see what you mean about having to add weight to the head when cutting the length out of the shaft.

If I add a grip that is 3g heaver does that lower or raise the swing weight.

It will lower the swing weight by 2/3 of a point. It takes 5 grams of weight on the butt end to raise or lower the SW 1 point. Add 5 it goes up, remove 5 it goes down. On the head side it takes 2 grams. Add 2 it goes up, drop 2 it goes down. With shaft weight 9 grams will raise or lower the SW a full point. Add 9 it goes up, drop 9 it goes down.
With length, every 1/2 you remove will lower SW 3 points, every 1/2 inch you add will add 3 points.

Thanks for all the info Lyle, I took my clubs into Golf Smith today to get reshafted. It was nice to have the some backup info on swing weight before I went there. All I had them do was measure my old 45in club and it was at about D2.5 and I told them to just make my new club a D4 and they said they could do it. The guy said they will just tip weight the shaft to counter the loss in shaft weight in cutting it down I hope they don’t F it up.
