Differences Between TP and Non

Ahoy, I am looking at either a r7 425 TP with Proforce V2 or a r7 425 with Proforce V2. I hit the TP version pretty good, But it is $380 used, and i found a non tp for $140 used. What differences would i experiance between the two?

TP face is open,non-TP square 8.5 and closed all the others

TP available in 7.5

TP has Rombax shaft which is irrelevant if you are changing shafts

TP has more weights

Just make sure you get the swingweight right if you aren't going for a stock shaft

If you go to TM's site they have some good info. The main differences will be face angle, TP open, Reg. slightly shut. Workability, TP is made for max workability while the reg is more forgiving. Shaft, reg has Reax, TP has Rombax-Reax. Then they give you the weight kit and the magnetic headcover with the TP. Not sure if the actual head is heavier in the TP or not.

Is is worth it? Maybe to some. Transitioning from a Hibore may prove a little difficult. They are on very much opposite ends of the forgiveness/workability spectrum. Not to mention there is probably about a 3* face angle difference between them.

Everything mentioned so far is correct. Also, the TP drivers will have a .335" tip and the standard will have a .350" tip. Using a V2 it won't matter since it comes in both tip diameters, but some premium shafts only come in .335" so you would need to shim it to go in a standard TM head.

Honestly, the 425's face isn't that far closed. Mine barely is, and I love my 425.

It's really not that shut. I felt the Hibore was way shut in comparison. An open face is tough to adjust to though. That's why I had to dump the R5TP. It was just going right way to often. 510TP is a little better, closer to dead square. Basically the Reg. R7425 should seem pretty square compared to the Hibore. I know I was pulling the snot out the Hibore and XL when I 1st hit them. Cleveland states all their heads are square, well if they are then the reg. 425 must be about 2* open and that R5TP I had about 6*.

You should only get the TP if you have no problem squaring the face and want to use it to shape the ball, everything else is periphery.
