hibore users?

Do the hibore's lack a little in the distance department or is that a myth? GG has a deal on one with a v2 for a great deal but I dont want to try it if I'm gonna lose distance.

Tee it low! Compare it to yours on a launch monitor. They're high launching so for many a lower launch (8.5º-9.5º) angle works better. And the V-2 will kick butt in it. They're like a machine. Every shot same distance right down the middle. Over and over. You'll feel like "Iron Byron" no matter where you hit it. I spent alot of time on the launch monitor with it and while I found my Rapture longer (and almost as straight) it was a tough decision. It seemed as long as everything there except the Rapture.

Give the HiBore a shot before you try the rapture. imo the hibore is head and shoulders better then the rapture.

(but not better then my 905)

everything depends on getting the right shaft in there, once you do that the HiBore is more than just a driver, it becomes a weapon.

as said tee it lower than you're normally accustomed to with your average 460cc driver. and just bash the crap out of it and watch the ball fly down the fairway.

no distance loss IMO, prone to a duck hook if you're not careful, hard to work, but its the driver, why would you need to manuver that...

i have hibore w/ v2 stiff. but it's 76g instead of 65. and i also have a small peice of a lead tape.

the club feels very neutral. it's not the LONGEST driver ever made, but it's one of the few STRAIGHTEST driver ever made.

that being said, i have no problem taking my hibore 250 carry. my SS is about 105mph.

I can carry my Hibore about 285. My average drive is about 290 with it. Zero roll. But, it's in the center of the fairway almost everytime.

Even on an off day, you can still swing out of your shoes and hit it straight.

For what it's worth, I hit it in a variety of shafts at a demo day and hated it.

And as far as it being straighter than others, well that's just a pile of BS. Hit ball with clubface square = straight.
Hit ball with clubface open or closed <> straight.

It's all mechanics, and personal preference. Try before you buy if possible.

So, by the process of elimination, you had 1 happen because you can't do 2.

I agree. The HiBore is straight as all hell, but if you get stupid with it, like any driver, it's going left or right.

If you're hitting the driver consistently, but want a 'hit it and forget it' head, the HiBore is one to consider. And, it's hundreds less than an FTi or a Sumo2.

Cool

I've only hit a HiBore a few times, but my friend, who's a 3 handicap, got one last year, and he's landing the ball where his old driver, a Titleist, was rolling out to. So that means his carry distance now equals his total distance with his Titleist. Not sure how anyone could complain about a lack of distance with the HiBore. I'm looking forward to trying the new HiBore XL. Supposed to be even longer.

Exactly.

With this particular club everything was coming off low and left. I just couldn't square it.

I mean all of this talk about which is better is complete horseshit anyways. It all comes down to what you hit best after you have tried what appeals to you. Just because I say I didn't like the HiBore and prefer the 905, or the old Launcher, or TM offerings doesn't mean that I would expect someone to purchase based on my recommendations. I am a software engineer, not a golf pro.

And I am not going to rule out anything to try myself either because of a review I read, or because so and so plays it, or so and so doesn't play it.

In my opinion reviews by guys like us are interesting to read, but really don't affect my decisions.

Post of the Month. Including February.

This is so true. And which is more, you'll see "go out and demo as much as you can" for every "WHich fairway wood/Shaft/Driver/Wedge is the best" thread out there.

Hibore doesn't work for you. Fine. Didn't work for Vijay either. Super.

I still think you should try a Tour. Biggest reason I went that way was because the retail was left alot, as you described, and I'm a draw man to begin with. With the 2* open face, it's downtown all day.

Good post, VT.

Well I hate to hear that it is a little hook biased since I already draw everything. I'm gonna give one a try though. I'm hitting my driver well I'm just looking for something cheap to tinker with.....we'll see how it goes.

It's like any non tour driver out there - closed. So, by default, it's set up to correct the slice. Not anything earth shattering, it's just the way things are these days.

A tour would be nice to try, but difficult to find. I'm limited to what comes in to my proshop or what the reps bring to the demo days. I would like to try the HiBore again, and I'm sure I'll see some of the guys at the club with one.

If my Ft-3 ends up de-bagging the HiBore, I'll send you mine for a go.
