SuperQuad & R7TP 5W

I'm heading out in a little bit to the course. It will be pretty busy so not sure I'll be able to hit multiple shots. I am going to try to hit as many as possible with the Superquad and the TP5W I just got shafted up. It's fairly windy out but hopefully I can get a general idea of the playability of these clubs. I'll be back later with a little review.

PS- Hopefully the head doesn't fly off the 5W, Twofast and I shafted it up Fri. night. The one par 4 I know I will use it is a carry over a little pond.

i just put together a driver myself. x100 steel shaft w/ mizuno MP-001 8.5* i had before my hibore.

i just gotta let it cure over night.

let me know how the 5w is holding up. i would definitely shoot it over the pond after i know the head will stay.

That Mizzy will be a tough stick with the X100. I might be able to get that about 2 feet off the ground...

Hoping the 5w will be OK. It will be a little embarassing if the head flies off. Very windy so I'm hoping to use it for some low shots off the tee. Today the 13* Vsteel with the 757 in it would be the perfect club off the tee. Low draws.

Kind of sucks you can't play. I'll be taking my chances to see who I get hooked up with. I know a lot of guys there so I may end up jumping groups at some point. I just hate getting put with @holes, that happens every once in a while.

I'm getting ready for the return of the Hibore. We're going 18 match play straight up for the New England Shottalk crown. Then VT has to come down and try to knock one of us out. AaA and Sling will get thier shot also. If Neal comes back we're all done though, lol.

Alrighty, where do I start here. I played 9 with 3 other guys and got warmed up. Didn't keep score but not hitting them too bad. So, then they go and I go over to the front 9, very tough stretch of holes I might add. So here's how the new guys performed....

R7 Superquad. At first I thought just a more forgiving version of the 425... then I nutted one. Had a 6iron into a par 5, blind fade to the green, stuck it in the shallow right bunker, up and down for a birdie. It's a little longer than the 425, less workable, more forgiving. Just aim and fire. I was able to set up slight fade and just cream it up the middle moving 3 yds. offline.

R7TP 5W. Used this one on the back 9, which I played first more. I hit it on the par 4 over water, dead straight, boring, long as my 200steel 3 wood. Hit the vokey from 110, spun it back 8ft. off the back, missed the little slider by 1/2 inch inside. I also hit it on a par 5 off the deck. Perfect boring draw around 220-230 put me dead on the 100 button. This one will take a little getting used to but so far so good. She's a real performer.

Now I can't talk about my new additions without mentioning the biggest gamechanger of all. The Vokey wedge. I chipped in with it today and stuck a bunch of pitches and chips close. I had 14 putts when I kept score on the front, Vokey played a big role in that one. I will never, ever consider taking that club out of my bag. Every time I got inside 100 I was thinking about holing out.

So how did I shoot? Try I broke my front 9 record by 4 strokes. 3 over 38 with a double on 9 to finish. Also played 1 and 9 again waiting for my GF to pick me up. Par, par. So that's 3 over on 11 holes.

Anyone wanna play for $$ using last seasons caps? Seroiusly though, I didn't want to leave. Ever have one of those days where you really feel like you could keep going lower vs. par you're swinging so well? My fades were dead on today. Take back 1 shot and hole 1 or 2 putts and I would have gone under.

No shaft changes planned yet. You know why? I've played so many drivers with countless shafts upwards of $350 retail and never hit a driver better than my old R7 with the stock MAS2. I've had my two best driving days with the R7425 last time out and now the Superquad, both have the same stock Reax. I need rock solid proof that another shaft will give me something I'm missing... and it ain't fairways at the moment.

My best day was with my old 580XD with that MAS2 shaft. Hit several 300+. I doubt I'll ever have a day like that again, birdied all 4 par 5's.

Schedule has been cleared, SWMBO has given the OK, as long as the weather cooperates I will be there.

Thanks, I've been working on a new drill/move and it's coming along very well, especially with my iron fades. I take the club back on a more outside, 1piece move, actually use a ball on the floor. I come back outside of it and drop inside of it on the downswing. I knew I was doing well when I just aimed and fired off a 3yd. fade 8iron 140uphill on a par 3, stuck it 15ft. directly behind the stick and it spun back to 10. Hopefully it's not just a fluke. If I can keep this swing/striking around I should get to a sub 5 this year.

Watch, I'll shoot a 101 next time out for all this gloating...

How was the weather? If it was 80 degrees F and no wind would it have helped? Nice job... (I'm jealous of anyone playing now...)

35* with 10-15mph wind and snow flurries. lol. The only help I got was the greens were quite receptive. I flushed a 5iron 180 into a little wind and spun it back 3 ft. I really didn't need that putt to be 3ft. longer... I got it down in 2 though.

Alright! Sling will have to tell me where so I can go play the course 7 or 8 times before you come. I'll have a Burger King crown ready for you to attempt to knock off. lol.

That would be cool to have like a state or regional Shottalk matchplay champ. Then other guys would have to meet up and play for the title.

Geez. That would be a problem. The golf season would be over by the time you got there.
