a few questions

alrite so im in the business for a 3wood project. the heads i am chossing between are the taylormade vsteel and the 904f. i have hit both very well in the past and they are both great value. i am also thinking about going 13*. this club would be used more off the tee than the deck, since my club doesnt have many oppurtunities to hit off the deck with a 3w, and my hybrid is long off the deck. my question however is about shafts. i currently play a ys-6+ in my driver and love it. i am thinking about getting a ys-7+ in this 3wood. it is heavier and i believe slightly lower torque, which would help me control the ball. i have a 100-105 mph swing speed, with a smooth transition. do you think this shaft would work out for me ? any other suggestions for shafts that would play similarly (nvs 75, accuflex evolution etc.)

my other question is with wedges. i would like to carry 3 wedges (pw + 2 others) so that i can have even distance gaps at the top of the bag. i was thinking about either picking up a 54* vokey to go with my 60* vokey, or bending once of my racs (52 or 56) to 54*. my pw however is 46*. doesnt anybody have experience going 8* from 46 to 54*? will this work out well?

thanks a lot,
19.

i dont think that 46- 54 would work well, what about 46-52-60 or 46-52-58??

there are others on here better equiped to handle the shaft question.

i would go with the vsteel, as i own both and think that it is the better head for utility, by that i mean off the deck and off the tee. The 904 would be better if you were looking for a club of the tee as you say in your original post.

I'll let you know how the 13* Vsteel works out if I put the 757 in it.

As far as wedges, I was tearing it up with that 50* Vokey last round. I don't really care a whole lot about distance gaps with wedges. I just want the ability to hit the shot I need/want to with them. As far as wedge distance? I hit it as far as I need to. My next addition will be a 56-10 or 58-12 Vokey. This will be for sand and going over bunkers out of rough. Very few situations I need a lob shot so hitting the low spinner with the 50* will be my first choice from the fairway. No need to pull a 60-04 when there is a clear shot, no bunkers blocking to the hole off the fairway.

Not sure it would be much different than going from 47 to 56, which a good majority of golfers do until they realize the value of a GW. It wouldn't work for me, and I would likely dump my 56 if I were given the choice between a 52* and a 56*, although I would likely bend it to 53* to slighly even out the gap between my 47.2 and 60*. I play with a ton of people who do not use a GW and still do well with a 9* gap, as I would only guess the 56* is likely the most common SW, out there. Possibly the most common wedge next to the PW.

I would have to agree with the 46-52-58. I have tried a hole host of different wedge configurations and finally came back to 47-52-58. Four wedges were great, but I left too much gap on the long end of the bag and I hardly ever used my 56* as I would go to the 51* or 60* if I needed more run or minimal run. 47-52-58 solves both of those problems and leaves me some managable distance gaps in between the wedges.
