Arrow Kick Point

I would like to get some help on choosing kick points on my new driver.

I know that low kick point launches the ball high and vice versa for high kicks.

How about the feel? Does high kick feel stiffer compared to the low kicks? Please give as much info about kick points.

Also, how does it affect the spin rate? Low kick = more spin?

Thanks a bunch.

The stiffness of the tip dictates spin, for the most part. Stiffer shafts will create more spin, generally.

Feel is a balance for the individual of stiff butt end and tip stiffness/softness. If you prefer less feel, go with something that is tip stiff and butt stiff. If you want a little feel, something with a slightly softer tip will give you that. If you want the whole deal, get a noodle.

My general rules for high kick is that they are stout, hard feeling shafts. Mid kick can be just about anything. And low kick shafts are usually softer tip feeling, to increase launch.

Now, the goal is to find a shaft tha produces good launch numbers, and doesn't spin too much. So the "science" of it all is trying everything out there and going with what works best. That might be the stock OEM Fujikura in the Cleveland HiBore or it might be a $300 Diamana. There's nothing set in stone to say that one will work better than the other for your specific swing. You should try a variety and go with what works the best and feels good in your hands.

Good luck,

R35

Loft plays a far bigger role in shot height that shaft kick point or flex. Loft is responsible for about 80% of the height of the shot. The shaft, and your angle of attack account for the remaining 20%.
Same for spin. Most of the spin is the result of loft. The ratio above is about the same.
