Any guys with high swing speed.......

Prefer regular shafts as opposed to stiff?
I read somewhere that even the smaller, shorter distance pros use stiff or even x-stiff.
I currently use stiff (irons) But lately feel like I really have to go after it to get good carry distance.
I'm about to order a new set of irons from a clone manufacturer, so I dont have the luxury of testing different shafts. I'm thinking about going regular instead of stiff. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Not sure with 5 iron, But less than 100 with driver. Carry average with driver about 230. Carry with 5 iron about 170. 46 yrs old and I play 1 inch over length. About a 14 hdcp. Also, would I benefit from graphite shafts vs steel in irons? Any negatives with graphite in irons?

If you need to bring your ballflight up, then I'd say go for the regulars.

I have the same swing speed and a little longer carry and play all R flex shafts.

The only thing I can do is hit the ball a mile, otherwise I totally suck at this game, that being said I have actually found some R-flex shafts I like. Not sure it helps in any way, but there is your answer for what its worth. My driver SS by the way 113mph.

I have been hitting a Graman ul640. It is a reg flex shaft that weighs only 53 grams finished length. With it I was swinging between 106 and 110 average. I was totally killing it. No loss of control. Play the softest flex you can control.

SS 95-100... I use stiff in all but my hybrids, and it seems to be the right way to go for me. And that from someone who's played regular his whole life. Now at 60 I go stiff... go figure?

My SS is about 115 average, I play the X in my driver and Stiff in the irons. The only regular I ever liked was in a V2.

with the newest drivers seriously improving the dispersion of off-centre hits, you could argue that most of us should switch down to regular - as the shaft stiffness mainly effects accuracy, not so much length

Not sure what my SS is, carry a 5i about 185-190 though. I have always played stiff shafts in my irons until I found a great deal on ebay with regular flex shafts. I couldnt believe how good they felt and I lost no control by going to the R flex. I have since gone to Rifle 6.0's and am regretting it....its been said before-"shafts are enigma's"

Too funny! Thats exactly what I thought when he said that. Thanks for all the advice guys. I think I'll go with regular. New equipment is real exciting, but i'll be realistic with my hopes. 6 months from 14 hdcp to scratch! 4 yrs. to Champ. tour! I can't wait!
