FW shaft question

This is a two part question that I would like to hear some opinions on.

1) I currently have a SQ 5-wood that I really hit well (good ball flight and long - by my standards). I suprise myself sometimes. The problem I have is that it has a stock Diamana R-flex shaft in it that is a little less controllable than I would like. It can vary by about 20 feet one way or the other. Based upon data from Rock , it is a 60 gram shaft. I'm thinking about putting a 75 g. NVS shaft in it for control. I think the length and lack of good control come from the lightweight regular flex shaft. Do you think I might be tinkering with a good thing, or is that too much dispersion for a 5-wood?

1a.) How will the SW change with the heavier shaft?

2) I have a 65 g. NVS shaft that I would like to install in a Titleist 904F. Do I bother with tipping if it is a bore-through? (I have a smooth swing and need the added height of the NVS)

2a.) If I need to tip it, how much for the 904F is typical?

1 - 20 ft is pretty small dispersion with a 5 wood.
1a - As long as you leave the length the same the SW will increase by 1 point if you go to a 75 gram shaft.
2 - tip it 1/2 an inch less that manufacturer recommends.

To one side or the other! It is 40 feet total, which is usually good enough to be on or to just one side of the green, but I guess that since I don't really know which one will happen it chaps me a little. I don't mind if I don't hit something perfectly straight, as long as it is consistent, I can adjust. When I don't know, it bothers me.
