All by myself....

With a little help from my friends that is. Thanks to Rock for the shaft and info, Lyle for even more info and Twofast2's for making a house call to my ghetto penthouse to help me (more like me helping, him actually doing) assemble my first club. This is the completed R7TP 17.5* 5W with the Speeder 857ti shaft. I just regripped it earlier with a GPTV, 2 layers of tape and and an extra 2 thin strips going around right above exactly where my right index finger will be. Not sure this will do anything at all, just an experiment, probably end up a mental aid if anything. I also did my favorite sharpie "black-out" of the white lettering, striping on the grip. We installed it logo down basically because I figured that would be the highest percentage of a spine if it had one. Again, probably won't effect anything.

Feels good to have a club that I've actually done the work on. Like it's truly mine, my creation if you will. When I pull the headcover off it I have confidence, this is my weapon.

What made me not? What are the chances of finding the "correct" spine? 1 in 8, 1 in 16? Where should I have put the logo? Striped it dead straight to inside of70 yds. out on a 302 yd. par 4. Close enough for me. lol.

LOL, i was just curious as the reason behind your madness.

Honestly, Fuji shafts labled are as randomly placed as any.

The reason behind my madness was (get ready for this)... This shaft was primarily a tour shaft in it's heyday, pro's play logo down so the manufacturer name will be seen by spectators for maximum advertising exposure. If Fuji built these shafts with that in mind then the logo down would be the best bet... Then again, devils advocate, since this shaft was not "mass produced" and if the spine is pretty random than all the ones with the spine closest to the logo ended up on tour and the one I have is most likely a throw out and 147* off spine now. How's that for madness, lol.

I'll need some help as I am most likely getting an Epic for my driver. I went to Golfer's Warehouse today and they have a new trainee in the club repair shop. Not that I like to judge people on appearence but I'd be nervous about trusting this guy to put my Big Mac together correctly, much less a $575 driver. Spargo is an option but at $52.50 for an install, possibly extra for the pull as well, I'd rather ship it out or do it myself.

I too this week have been club building for the 1st time. I have had no work in so I've been to see my mate at the range to do some work on my clubs. On Tuesday we pulled the heads from all my irons to put new ferules on (he did 5 I did 3) & I regripped my 52 degree gap wedge by myself . (I actually kept a club long enough to have to regrip it).

Then yesterday I took my FT3 With nvs and my 454 with ProLaunch and tried to change the shafts over. What a nightmare!!! The NVS in the FT3 would not budge using a heat gun, vice & crow bar (got to be an easier way)? in the end we had to cut it and drill it out. The ProLaunch in the 454 came out eventually after an hour or so. My friend says he will never work on Cally drivers again. Anyhow we got the ProLaunch in the FT3 so I'm off to the club soon to give it a whirl. Need a new shaft for the 454 though.

Ez,

That is pretty damn good logic for a guy who moves furniture for a living. Coming from a professional painter by trade I know that wont mean much.

Thanks. I am an underachiever. Gives me some sick sense of security knowing I could call up and quit right now and not be all that far in the hole. lol.

Congrats on getting that together, Ez. You should feel a sense of accomplishment everytime you pull it from the bag. Just remember one thing, if the head ever comes flying off you have no one to blame but yourself...
