Need help

I am looking to buy a set of taylor made irons. I have always had hand me down imitation irons. I'm not very good at golf shoot 85-90 on average. any help as to what I really need to look at in the irons would be greatly appreciated. this is what I'm looking at.

1) TaylorMade r5 XL Irons - for $300

2) Taylor Made rac™ HT Irons Steel Shaft - for $330

3) Taylor Made rac OS2 Irons Steel - for $400

I think they were a set made specifically for Dick's Sporting Goods stores, and never part of the 'real' TaylorMade lines. They made iron sets, drivers and hybrids too, I believe.

Check the classified section. MCDavis has a set of OS2 for sale for 340, I think.

Yeah, I've heard those OS2's are a really nice iron. I'd say those of the 3 choices. As the guys said, MCDavis has a set in the classifieds and couple other nice nice clubs. I've done a couple deals with him and he's first class, equipment in top shape and ships it right out to you. Good guy.

I'd say the other 2 sets are better options. They'll most likely be better quality than the "made for Dick's" R5's. If it were my personal choice... Like say I came to visit you with no clubs and you said "I have these 3 sets here, which one you wanna use?" I'd take the OS2's.

I have only hit the OS2 of those three, and they were pretty nice. Good at your level or if you improve.

thanks

I appreciate the help would you recommend a different brand than taylor made. I really want something that can help my golf game get better. I realize that just because I have a name brand set doesn't mean I am a better golfer but as a football coach I know that having better quality equipment leads to better results.

What's wrong with Taylor Made?

Every company produces a "game improvement iron". This should help you get a handle on those that are made by the major manufacturers.

That might be the worst looking driver ever. WTF is that?

A ball above your feet has a tendancy to hook from that lie. It could be length, or lie.

How tall are you?
