Golf Stats software....any advice

I'm thinking about starting to keep track of my stats in hopes of using the info to work on problem areas of my game. there seem to be quite a few software options available online for managing stats, I was wondering if any of you folks had feedback good/bad on some of the programs out there. For me, simple is better. Thanks

Nate

I've been using Intelligolf for several years. Works great for me. Especially good if you have a Palm, PPC, or supported phone as you can track and keep score on the course and sync it to the PC when you get home. Also has GPS functionality if you have a GPS available for the device you use.

They have a trial version to see if you like it.

Good tip...thanks. I do use a Palm at work (too much medical stuff to fit in my brain!!) so something compatible with that would be cool.

A Palm is what I use. It is very convenient, and the reason I will likely not change. I used to use one called Golfwits which had some bells and whistles not on the Intelligolf at the time. But if you use a palm and want to track stats, intelligolf is fantastic. The other bells and whistles were kind of fun, but I wanted it for stats, and for that intelligolf is far superior. It will also track multiple users and even track sidebets, games, and matchplay as well. Distances for each club.

What I do is mainly track score, putts, girs (Just by entering the score and putts it computes GIR's). I also try and track FW's, and penalties. I try not to get into to much more on the course simply because this can be done at the end of each hole.

Then when you sync it, it automatically breaks down everything into that for Par 3's, 4's and 5's. Overall averages, averages for that course and the holes. So you can see if you consistently play one hole on a course poorly and change your course management. It also does dreamrounds and such, which is fun to play around with.

There is a massive database of courses free for download, and it is also simple to do your own.

Edit 1 -
Be aware, it tracks Handicaps and can be used to figure out in a competition during a round, although it is not the official USGA handicap, which they were not permitted to use. Although you can enter the official USGA handicap for each stored or entered golfer and it will automatically calculate the course handicaps assuming the data is entered for the course, or you enter it properly.
