Ghetto Club Fitting

I was hitting them a little fat the other day and I have never been fitted for irons before so I decided to go out and hit some taped up irons on some plywood to see what would happen. I used my 5 and 6 irons take a look at the marks and tell me what you think, should I go in and get my clubs bent. Could Golf Smith do the lie adjustments.

You could use 1 or 2* upright. I'm a dead standard lie, and my mark would be well inside of that towards the heel moreso.

GS will do club adjustments, yes. So will any good fitter if they have the equipment, but it's fairly easy to come accross.

Thanks Rock do you think 1 or 2 degrees will make a difference in ball striking.

Get all your irons done. It is MOST important to get it done with your wedges.

I'd get a hold of a PCS Class A fitter locally, if there is one or two, and tell him all you need is your clubs dynamically fit. Should really only take an hour or less of his time if you are bending, say, 3-SW.

Were you hitting balls off the plywood or just swinging? You have to actually hit balls as most everyone's swing changes when they are trying to make contact. Check all your irons, just as you did, hitting balls off the plywood with the masking tape. Then you only need to correct the clubs that aren't hitting center.

I just want to say thanks for all the input guys. I taped up my 5,6,9 and 52* and brought them in to club repair guy that has trailer at the heated range I go to. He took a look at them and said right away that with my height and the marks on the tape 2* should do the trick, he charged me 40$. I don’t know if it made all that big of a difference with my shorter irons but my longer irons felt a lot better when I hit them at the range today.
