Hi Ho, Hi Ho .....

Been couped up in the house for most of 2 weeks, the golf season starts for me on Sunday, my wife just left for Kansas. I think it is time to pay a visit to NJ and Golfsmith. Already threw my 3 G2 FW's, and 2 Halos in the car for trade in just in case they have any good deals that catch my eye, or maybe some cheap shafts.

Maybe I can get some kind of 3 for 5 deal on some older Bafflers and a 3w with a better shaft. Maybe a Sonartec 3w with a nice shaft.

We'll see, odds are 50/50 I come back with the same clubs and and sore muscles from testing out the MP-60's and clubs with the Nippon and Rifle Flighted shafts that I am looking for in the next month.

i stopped into Dick`s yesterday when i was in town to see if abything cuaght my eye.o did notice that they are now selling shafts.they didnt have many some steel shafts,couple NV`s (65`s&75`s i think),a couple Pro Launch Graph Blues.

got side tracked by a hottie who started asking me questions about starting out in the game.i guess she seen me looking at the shafts and figured i must know something about the game.

eventually the pro shop guy came over to try tp help her out.

has anyone else been into there local Dick`s and notice this or is it a local thing?

Dick's here doesn't have a very good selection of anything other then golf balls. I doubt they are stocking shafts. But now you've got me lining up a trip a mile down the road from work to check....

No, it's pretty common that the pro shop guy would come over to help out the hottie. I doubt it's just your local store.

Ours has about 5 or 6 shafts. Still don't have shit for club selection though.

I always try and have a look around the Dick's Sporting Goods shops I pass, and more and more of them are adding 'club services' desk, with shaft fitting and regripping services on offer. I think in my recent trips (which have been in several different states) I've only seen a couple that haven't had this facility built into them, and they tended to be much smaller golf departments.

Could be something to do with them buying out Golf Galaxy and starting to realize the market there is out there for custom fitting and shaft/grip upgrading?

whoa, they bought Golf Galaxy?? never knew that, when did it happen?

it would make sense for them to start up the regrip, reshaft, and other clubmaking services.. theres money to be had there..

i knew they bought GALYAN'S, but Golf Galaxy??

and everytime i go to Dick's they have either nobody to help, or the mat is shut down for "repairs"...

last time i went there, the mat was open, and there was one person there, and i asked to just hit any club they had because i was bored, and wanted to see how my swing was doing, and it was raining outside...

well anyways, on the first swing, i snapped the club head right off the shaft... i was like holy sh!t!! but then i realized it was prolly because of the cheap $20 driver, cheap shaft, and a bad manufacturing job... the club head just flew off into the net...

Dicks Sporting Goods completes acquisition of Golf Galaxy

How else do you account for the sudden appearance of Slazenger golf balls in large numbers at the Golf Galaxy stores?

(I have my own 'snapping a club shaft on the hitting mat at Dicks' story to share too, but am not sure I dare relate it in detail yet...)

Well, I first went to Dicks and saw nothing but the 70 year old male that couldn't even tell me if they had Footjoy Dryjoys in a 13w. His first response was NO. It is a regional thing, because there was not a hot babe to be found.

Went to Golfsmith, and they were overpriced for what I have seen on Hybrids/FW replacements. So no Ho'ing today. I did figure out what shaft I wanted for the MP-60's when I decide to jump on those. I found some Callaway's with both Nippon's and Rifle Flighted, and the Nippons were a little to light for my taste, so I will be ho'ing some MP-60s with Rifle Flighted shafts when the time comes.

I took the time to talk with one of the guys on staff that just went from Callaways to MP-60s. Like many of the people that hit their PW 150-160 yards, he fit in that category. He did say he lost about 20 yards on off centered hits for the MP-60's. I am still willing to take my chances.

I left the store with simply 3 rolls of lead tape to play around with the swing weight on my clubs.

Still have 3 FW's and 2 hybrids, and enough lead tape to build a bomb shelter. Total cost $17. I am simply not worthy of Ho status

edit 1 - It will be a very small bomb shelter, so if you live in Jericho, KS you are likely better off where you are

I will be going down to Golfdom and Golf Galaxy in the near future, so I may still be able to satisfy my HO status.
