1st trip to the range with a cut-down driver and some new Wishons

Got out and tried my new wedge (Wishon CX Micro) on the range today - love the wedge - nice and smooth - spins like crazy - pretty good distance control already- able to go after the flag or another ball on the range pretty well - can't wait to get it out on the course

The next new club was a Wishon560mc with DG SL tipped to firm flex. This club is very forgiving - I could hit the mat first and it would still have a nice flight - a little distance loss obviously, but you gotta put a really bad swing on it to mess up

unfortunately, there was a left to right wind, but I hit it well - it's definately shorter than i'm used to - club length wise - but really a nice club

I'm not sure about shafts - the DG SL felt good - shots hit on the screws were sweet, and I got good fieldback on a couple of mishits (off the toe)

I hit it against my cleveland 7 iron, no comparison, Wishon wins hands down.
I hit it against my macgregors and that was interesting - a perfectly struck shot with the 1025m with Rifle shaft is about as sweet as a shot can feel - the DG SL wasn't as "smooth" as the rifle, but still felt good -
the 560mc is so much more forgiving than the 1025 - it's crazy.
distances with each were comprable

weight wise I ordered the 7 iron at D-0, I was taping coins to the back of the clubhead - I think I want the rest of the set D-1 - (taped a penny to the back and had the best results/feel - pretty sure a penny weighs 2.5 grams and an increase of 2 grams increases swingweight by 1 point)

the big story - first time I've hit the freshly cut down driver - Wow - did not miss - not a single bad shot with the driver- every one of them would have been in the fairway of just about any hole

all in all, a good trip to the range - I left wondering if I should go Rifle 5.5s instead of the DG SLs, and wondering if I could justify the cost to replace the MacGregor 1025cm's - I'll try to post pictures of the new Wishon's tonight

I wanted to make a point/ask a question, and completely forgot...

I thought I'd feel more of a difference between a DG SL Regular flex tipped to firm and a Rifle 6.0 - maybe the Rifle's are just that much smoother???

any thoughts?

Maybe I need to try reg flex black golds

The 6.0 will play considerably stiffer than a regular DG. You might want to try something like a 5.5 or even a 5.0 if your SS is on the lower end if you want to play more on the same level as the regular.

I've put the 52* and 56* CX Micros in my bag for this year. I have only tried them on the range and love them thus far. I finally get to play tomorrow, if it ever stops raining. Everything will be wet, so the extra spin won't be really noticed for a few weeks.

The 560 from Wishon is my next iron. I just got Mizuno MP-60's last season and am HOPING to make it through this season with them. I am slowly turning my entire bag over to Tom Wishon Golf. I don't really "need" new irons, but when has that ever stopped a ho?

I also get to play my first round with my new 525 GRT from Wishon. I bought the 9.5* and am thankful I did. Turns out his 11* version is actually on the USGA non-con list. It is going to have to be a HUGE stick to kick my Exotics out of my bag. Thus far in range testing, the 525GRT definitely launches higher and seems much more forgiving than the Exotics. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I can't wait to hit those CX Micros off a firm fairway to a hard green.
