Well, the j33 was a great club, and when you hit it, omg it went long, i hit a few mishits longer than my good shots with my v-steel.

But, just not consistent enough at all, i duno, its a great club, and my swing isnt very good right now, but its just not wat i was looking for at the moment. Maybe it was the shaft a little too stiff? But it was going literally everywhere, so no telltale signs of the shaft being too stiff... Although the head was great, but i may try and ho a few diff shafts to try out in it, any suggestions? Lyle, wat Limey you think would be a good fit for me? Im thinking of something a litte easier to load than an X as im guna take my swing back down a notch and relearn loading and my lagging.

Other ideas for 3ws or shafts for the j33? already got the idea of an X-tour fw wood turnin

To play an X in a fairway wood you really need to be going at it hard. I am talking about 100 mph off the deck. I would guess the x is simply to stiff. The other problem could be a combination of too light total weight and swing weight. Both would lead to the all over the place eraticness you are experiencing.
Personally I like heavier shafts (80g and up) in my fairway woods, and a swing weight of at least D3 as this makes shots off the deck far easier.
Try a graphite design purple ice. They are a terrific fairway shaft and I can get them at a pretty good rate if you are interested.

I put a Graphite Design YS-7+ fw (I got from R35) into my 3-wood and it is an awesome shaft in that also...

whats wrong with the v-steel again? It seems like you should just stick with it.

Dude, there's something else going on there. I hit the J33 better (farther, straighter, and more consistently) than any 3W I've ever hit. I have the NV-75 in mine cut down to 42 1/4" and a swingweight of D4. It was decent at 43 and D2 but is just smoking now! I'd certainly stay with it and try some tweaking before you give up on it.

Did you add weight to the head when you cut it down?

If that question is to me then, yes. I added a little extra and got it to D4 (matches driver SW now).

If that question wasn't to me then disregard.

im guessing the reason he asked that, is because when you add weight to the head, the shaft flex becomes weaker...

i have learned alot from lyle...

Lyle, that WAS the purple ice in the j33! But i really did like the shaft, but you are right i probly could go with a S instead of X in the fw. Im not doubting its length by any means, but i hit it good goddam i hit it good, but it just was NOWHERE near any type of consistency that is deemed as acceptable for even a 10 handicap.

Jules, the vsteel is great, but just something about it that made me felt like there is something better out there and that id have to tinker to find it, but so far its been 3 3ws and im back with the vsteel

I will most likely keep the j33 (the head isnt in that great condition so no point selling and i liked the head), which shaft and specs u got as opinion for it Lyle? PI or Limey? im thinkin around 80g or so, this PI was 75, i loved the feel swinging it, but probly the flex just strained too much. Think you could set one of those things up properly for me? quote maybe?

Ever hit a 200steel FW wood? Picture it as a stock Honda Civic, reliable, easy and pretty quick. Now take one of these Honda's with the header, pipe, manifold, the whole 9 that hit's like 9000rpm's without blinking. Here is the R7TP Ti FW. Try one man, they are sick long. Twice already I've hit my longest tee shots ever on 2 different holes... with a fricken 3W on holes I've hit driver on about 50times. lol.

As much as id love to go for a r7 tp 3w, theyre just too expensive to justify buying imo. Its along the lines of a SC from where im sitting.

But, alas, the vsteel back in the bag proved why it was there again today... Hit it a few times off the tee, only mishit two of them and those were setup mistakes made by me trying to draw the ball back. I forgot how solid this thing was But, we'll see, ill probly ho somethin else to try in the 3w slot. Just not gettin an X for the fw shaft also, "statistically" apparently i have the swing for it in my 3w (so says the clubfitter local, i dont want those numbers, but i trust him), but it just went everywhere while my stiff NVS is great.

**** Yes Rock, i know you told me so ****

Which one? I have a 15* with an S-90 Rifle, a 16.5* with an R-80 and an 18* with an R-80. Quite honestly my 17.5* TP may be as long as the 15* 200steel. They are that long.

I got my 5W for $65 and my 3W and the Epic shaft for the equivilent of $200 cash and trade. We need to get you into "ho school". I'll bet I could take you Bstone, Adams hybrid and your Vsteel, get you a 15* R7TP and $125 cash.
