Titleist 704.CB

Anyone heard anything about these clubs?

I have been reading about them and they sound like exactly what I've been looking for, forged mid/low-hcp irons with a lot of forgiveness.

They're a few years older than the 775 and 755, but they seem like the exact same club, minus the red inserts (which I don't like).

I had a set and hated them. A buddy got a set 2 years ago and thinks they are the best he's ever owned. What? Two golfers with mixed opinions on a particular set of irons? Go figure!!!

Perimeter weighted, so fairly forgiving. They are forged stainless and have a different feel than the carbon steel forgings like a 690.cb, etc. The finish doesn't ding like the softer forgings, but dulls and mars easily.

Nice thin top line. Look good at set up. I couldn't keep the set I had out of the left trash. Big hookers for me. Could never understand why and dumped them after about 4 rounds. Try to find a set to demo. Like I said, have a buddy that kills his 704's.

I use the 690cbs and I really like them - they have a softer feel than the 704s.

Forgiveness in the 690s is ok in the 4 iron up but the 3 iron is either nailed or shocking - for me anyway - but I hit 9/10 well.

The short irons are really sweet - try both and see what you think but for me the 690s were quite a bit nicer.
