Angry My Golf Clubs were stolen!!!!

I was substituting for my boss on his first night for his league. When the league was over, I went in the clubhouse for a drink and came out twenty minutes later and my bag and everything was lifted. They were sitting in front where I always sit them and so does everyone else. Everyone else's stayed put. I would never expect this to happen ever since I have been playing there. 3 years and never heard of such a thing. The golf club insists its a mistake. Does the course have any responsibility? I filed a police report the day after. I would like to think they were taken by mistake, but its hard to believe that.. this day and age. What would you do?

Any serious input would be nice. Again thanks very much. Brian

That's a heck of a first post.

I'm sorry to hear it but I'm thinking that there is nothing you can do.
You got 'shafted'.

I do have a tip. While it won't help you now, it may be of use to others.
Anything that you value, put your drivers license number on it, no initials, no ssn.

In the event of a recovery, the police will be able to ID the owner by that number and contact you. They can't access SS records without major pain but the DL is easy......I was told this by Bridgeport detectives when I went to ID some stolen tools years ago.

Thats a really great tip Sling. I may actually think of that happening. Ive had a few clubs stolen outta my bag, but luckily never the whole thing.

As Sling said, hell of a first post, but welcome to ST.

You would think that clubs would have camera's on the bag drop area at all times.

Thanks for input. I have registered all the products through the companys registration. I am currently waiting for a response for serial #'s. Being it was a private league everyone is accounted for when they signed in and played.

You are looking at this the wrong way. This sucks but will provide an excellent opportunity to spend some insurance money on some new sticks. At least thats what I would do.

Splooge is right. Get the insurance check and go have some fun!! And don't ever leave your clubs unattended in today's world. Unless you want to be buying new ones...

Which insurance will cover that?

Homeowners? Good luck. what if you rent?
Auto? Don't be silly.

I'll tell you what Sling. My State Farm insurance would cover it... renters, auto, home owners or whatever. I'd bet on it.

I'd like to test that theory.

If they were stole from your home, sure, but at a bag drop many miles away?
Insurance companies love to take your money and give you nothing in return.

You know there is a possibility they were taken accidently... Maybe a low chance but it's possible. I had a bag of baseball equipment 'stolen' once and another time a briefcase full of scotch and cigars were 'stolen'... both time the stuff came back to me, honest mistakes.

Try putting some postings at the club, locker room, pro shop, check-in station, bar wherever people gather and they'll allow it.

In the case of my baseball stuff the guy ended up having the exact same bag filled with a similar amount of equipment. Took until the next weekend when he opened it and realized none of the stuff in there was the right brand. The booze and cigars were returned the next day and we swapped cases... he had thought HIs stuff got stolen as well.

Worth the 10 sheets of printer paper for the try.

Sorry for the loss if it is truly stolen. Sucks.

Welp... They were new sticks less than a month old, Sumo 2 Stiff 10.5, Slingshot 17* hybrid 2 iron, NDS 3W Stiff, 4 - Aw CCi's, ignite putter, SQ xtreme bag, 58 Wedge. And I dont believe my insurance covers it. My law attorney said if they dont have a sign stating " Not responsible for lost or damaged property" i may have a fight. I also thought the course has some kind of insurance against this.... Not sure though.

I am tempted to tell them I am not going to play there anymore. There is a thief on the loose there. The members are playing with him every week in the league. Thats messed up. I could see them being stolen from a car in Wal-mart parking lot but right in front of the club house. In front of the window with people in and out of the lobby. That takes balls. Straight up. I just want to be ensured that it wont happen again if I return. I had even thought about becoming a member. Cumberland Golf Club Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

My Homeowners covers my clubs no questions asked from my backyard to Fiji. Anywhere in the world, if they get jacked, I'm covered, as long as I file a police report for the file.

Shop around. It's available everywhere, I'm told.

dude that sucks!!

like others said, try your homeowners... but i wouldnt go suing the club, they didnt do anything to cause this mess, especially if you want to play there again..

and alos like others said, it could be a mistake(although a low percentage chance, depending on what type of area you are in).

it cant hurt to put up some flyers!!
