    More Forgiving irons?

I think I'm getting close to the time where I need to buy new irons. As of now I have Macgregor v-foil tourney irons. What I've been reading on them lately has been that they are more demanding irons than others these days. Therefore My coach recommended to me to get more forgiving irons with a bigger sweet spot (than my Macgregor's) and to get more distance. He reccomended me cobra s9's or taylormade r7 Irons (PRICY!!). I'm not a fan of the r7's , my dad has r7 cgb's and I don't care for them one bit! I test hitted the s9's and they felt real good. I'm just wondering what other irons are compared or as forgiving as the s9's?

  2. Go the extra mile. Demo, spend time in the simulator, and get fitted. You're almost guaranteed to find "the one". Lots of forgiving irons out there to choose from.

  3. The MacGregor 455s are unbelievably forgiving. If you want a more classic look without much loss of forgiveness, look at the MacG. 565s (I love mine). Both are great forged irons that can be had for a steal. Check out the reviews of these on the net.

  4. Nothing is more forgiving then Ping's. Nothing. There are i3's available on e-bay.

Try out the Adams GT2's I hit some friends the other day and I absolutely loved them they're very very nice irons especially for the price.

  6. I'll second the MacG 565's....they are awesome. Give the r7's a shot they are much better than the ultra game improvement clubs from taylormade. G5's would be a nice choice too.

  7. Nike Slingshots. Not the new ones unless you slice like a mad man but the older versions you can find on ebay for dirt cheap really.

I might go try out the mac 565 irons. Are they much more forgiving than my current iron set? I looked up prices and they seam real reasonable. My local golfsmith had a set of used 565's last time I was there, so if they still have them maybe I'll try them out.

    What do you guys think?

  9. yes.....they are much more forgiving......and what I really like about them is they don't have a ton of offset which can cause hook city.....plus they are forged heads and they usually have rifle shafts which I really like.....if I was getting a GI set it would be these or the R7's.
