Thread: Another New Putter

    Another New Putter

Well, got another new putter, used it today and am not sure what I want to put in the bag. It is a Modena 8, with a polished charcoal finish that is not going to be brought to retail. It has the new AGSI+ insert which I have really grown to like. I also had the UST Frequency Filtered putter shaft installed, I've been itching to try this out for a while.

First impression was that the ball really jumped off of the face of this particular putter. The shaft did soften the feel, but I want to switch it to a putter that I have used before to see what it really does. The one thing I did not like is that when I tap the putter to the ground, I can hear a vibration in the shaft at the joint. This does nothing while actually putting, but still freaks me out a little.

Just how much "customizing" do you do before you post these pics? Did you do the paintfill removal on this one (and the irons)? Anything else?

Wedges I'll grind before I even think about putting them in play, usually take some trailing edge relief and a lot off the heel, also will bend them 4* flat. Irons will get bent 3 degrees flat and have all the paintfill removed (a superstition I've had for a few years now) I also get the heads and shafts sent as components so that I can build them to a D5 swing weight. Putters will get bent 3* flat and will get swing weighted to a D7 and have the paintfill removed. Woods will generally get reshafted since they send with stock TM shafts and I have never had much success with the Re*Ax/Rombax shafts. I also take the paintfill out of the woods. I will add weight to the heads of my woods as well, I like them to be at a D5 swing weight as well.

Holy smokes; that is a lot of "tweaking"!

Seeing as those dots are actually tungsten weights and not decorative, I'm sure they would be able to withstand any lawsuit that Ferarri threw at them.
